My inspiration from "The Sound of Freedom" in Egypt

Op-Ed by Yeay Tep

Sitting and watching the clip of this powerful and meaningful song of liberation for freedom, it took me back to the day after18 March 1970. There was a huge demonstration at the Independence Monument "Vimean Ekareaj" organized by the Cambodian Youth in 1972, which I was there to witness and took part in assisting to provide foods for thousand demonstrators, as we installed a temporary kitchen at the Phnom Daun Penh High School (former Sisowat HS). It wasn't exactly like Tahrir Square but it was mostly from the pure and innocent heart of the Cambodian youth who had a chance to express their love of their country and freedom.

I understand many of the demonstrators were later killed during Pol Pot regime, some managed to flee Cambodia to start a new life and others decided to stay behind for various reasons.

The surviving youth inside and outside Cambodia are now in their sixty who have been witnessed all the events that took place from the revolution in March 1970. Many of us have carried our dream to follow the sound of freedom, which we have been deprived for far too long. No matter what, we haven't given up our hope and we keep on lighting the ignition flame to pass on to our new generation, for them to learn from our true recent history through our non violence approaches and patriotic actions.

It's a great challenge to try to inspire our youth who being born and raised under the manipulation and rewritten history implicate by the traitors of our country and people, who have been subjugated by Vietnam, and hang on to power for the last 32 years. However we have to keep on going to fulfill our duty as "what we can do to our country" so that we can be proud of being the Khmer descendents, who hold a reputation of having a great ancient history from Angkor era, a very similar to the Egyptians with the Pyramid.

May the spirit of patriotism and fierce to uphold freedom come to empower all Khmer people of all generation and political affiliation, to guide and lead us all to march on a road of conciliation and solidarity, and to be able to rewrite our new history together in the way of reconnecting our modern and ancient history for the world to acknowledge, like what our ancestors did for the Great Khmer Empire.

Although I wrote this with my tears, I dedicate this great inspiration to all Khmer people everywhere around the world, the living and the death.

I left my house and said I am not coming back,
And I wrote with my blood in every street.
We made the deaf ones hear,
Sign says " Thatx, our free Kentucky meal",
And all the barriers are now broken.
Our weapon was our dreams,
And tomorrow is clear in front of us.
From a long time we have been waiting,
We have been searching and not able to find our place,
In every street in my country,
The voice of freedom is calling,
In every street in my country,
The voice of freedom is calling.

We raised our heads up in the sky,
And we don't care about hunger anymore,
The most importance thing is our rights,
And we will write our history with our blood.
If you are really one of us,
Don't blabber and tell us
To leave and drop our dream,
And stop saying the world I.
In every street in my country
The voice of freedom is calling
In every street in my country
The voice of freedom is calling.

Short poem: " Egyptian hands understanding how to differentiate,
Breaking the mirror of deception.
The beautiful youth showed up to change it is winter to spring, and made the miracle,
And awoke the deadened country from its death.
Kill me, killing me won't return your rule again.
I'm writing with my blood a new life for my country.
This is my blood or is it the spring both of them are green,
And am I smiling from my happiness or from my sadness"

In every street in my country
The voice of freedom is calling.

In every street in my country
The voice of freedom is calling.

In every street in my country
The voice of freedom is calling.

Why do Kos Trol, sea and lands proximately over 10 000 km2 have been lost to Vietnam by who treaty? Why don’t Cambodia goverment transparencies explain to Cambodia army at front line and the whole nation about this? Why don't they include this into education system? Why?

Cambodian armies are fighting at front line for 4.6 km2 and what's about over 10 000km2 of Cambodia to Vietnam. Nobody dare to talk about it! Why? Cambodian armies you are decide the fate of your nation, Cambodian army as well as Cambodian people must rethink about this again and again. Is it fair?

Kos Trol, Sea and lands over 10 000km2 have been lost to Vietnam by who treaty at 1979 to 1985 treaty! Treaty! Cambodian army at front line as well as all Cambodian people must rethink again about these issues. Are Cambodian army fighting to protect the Cambodia Nation or protect a very small group that own big lands, big properties or only protecting a small group rather in the real name of protecting Khmer nation?

Cambodian army at front line suffer under rain, wind, bullets, bombs, lack of foods, lack of nutrition, their families have no health care help, no securities after they die but a very small group eat well, sleep well, sleep in first class hotel with air conditioning with young girls message, have super health care from oversea medical treatment, they are billionaires, millionaires who sell out the country to be rich and make Cambodian people suffer everyday as Cambodian people know already.

Who signed the treaty 1979-1985 that result lost over 10 000 km2 of Cambodia??? Why don't they transparency inform all Cambodian and Cambodian army at front line about these issues? Why don't include Kos Trol (Kos Trol size is bigger than the whole Phom Phen with heap of great natural resources) in education system in Cambodia.

Look at Hun Sen families, relatives; friends are billionaires, millionaires where do they get the money from if we all just get out of war with empty hands? Hun Sen always say in his speech Cambodia just get up from war, just get up from Zero with empty hands and how come they are billionaires, millionaires but 90% innocent Cambodian people are so poor struggling with living every day.

I am with you! Why Hun Sen remains so quiet about Koh Trol?

Koh Trol is bigger than Singapore! Koh Trol has much more potential for tourism than Koh Pich, Koh Pos, and Koh Sess...

If Hun Sen is so serious about tourism and Koh Trol is the next destination! Koh Trol must be returned back to Cambodia!!!!!
