Unesco has no plans to visit the site of Preah Vihear temple until military tension along the border abates, a representative for the organization said.
Cambodia requested a Unesco team investigate alleged damage to the temple from Thai artillery fire in clashes earlier this month. And while Unesco has agreed to send a team in principle, it is waiting for more calm.
“There is no mission foreseen to the temple site at this point,” said Sue Williams, a spokeswoman for Unesco. “And obviously no mission could take place to the site until hostility has ceased between the two parties.”
Williams told VOA Khmer that any visit would have to be done with “full collaboration” from both countries.
Unesco Secretary-General Irina Bokova said in a statement this week she would send an envoy for talks with both Cambodia and Thailand.
Preah Vihear temple’s listing as a Unesco World Heritage site in July 2008 is at the heart of the current military build-up along the border. The listing sparked celebrations in Cambodia and protests in Thailand and remains.

Every move we make, Siem thieves counter-moved and the World body seems to collaborate with the Siems. This is so counter productive. The contlict could potentially go on and on without any ending. Meanwhie, the temple is badly needing restoration and repair. I am hople in my life time that I will be able to enjoy the full original work of our great civilizaton achievment. I am anxious to see the temple in its full restoration. That is why it's important for both side to put nationalism aside and work toward peace, especially the sieam.
I wonder why UNESCO/UNITED NATIONS people still hesitated?? All they have to do there have some obsevers to monitor, and did inspection of the damages...?? I felt uncomfortable with UN, UNESCO...They taken side!

maybe too many international organizations depend too much on thailand for their location, businesses, etc, that's why they seemed to let thailand doing what they want! maybe it's time to relocate all to cambodia or something! stop catering to illegal demand from thailand! see what too much foreign investments do to thailand? they all seemed to want to protect thai interest as their investments are located in thailand because they all got too much to lose, i guess! i say relocate all your investments, businesses, etc to cambodia and stop catering to illegal demand of thai pad thugs, etc, really! who says cambodia can't change or reform in a better way! it's time to rethinking of cambodia, really! stop depending too much on leasing your businesses or investments, etc in thailand. come to cambodia to do and establish all your organizations, businesses, investments, etc in cambodia for a change! god bless cambodia.

People listen UN is know everything but UN as well as American and the world of modern democracy hate Hun Sen regime so much. American, UN use thai to eliminate Hun Sen regime out of the world only, that's why American, UN act like that. Please look at recently regime of Tuniasi and Egypt behind the scence is American and UN. Trust me, I am old enough and have heap of experinced in UN.
The idea is to wipe out all Hun Sen regime from the world and China can't help Hun Sen either because China know that China won't win the war with US. The military technology of China today are copy from US since 1945. US military system are a head China over 60 years.
Cambodian people should also wipe out Hun Sen regime as well as his 400 relative out of the world because they are the source to make cambodian people suffer until today.

Why do Kos Trol, sea and lands proximately over 10 000 km2 have been lost to Vietnam by who treaty? Why don't Cambodia goverment transparency explain to cambodia army at front line and the whole nation about this? Why don't they include this into education system? Why?
Cambodian army are fighting at front line for 4.6 km2 and what's about over 10 000km2 of cambodia to Vietnam. Nobody dare to talk about it! Why? Cambodian army you are decide the fade of your nation, Cambodian army as well as cambodian people must rethink about this again and again. Is it fair?

Cambodian army at front line suffer under rain, wind, bullets, bombs,lack of foods, lack of nutrition, their families have no health care help, no securities after they die but a very small group eat well, sleep well, sleep in first class hotel with air conditioning with young girls message, have super health care from oversea medical treatment, they are billionairs, millionairs who sell out the country to be rich and make cambodian people suffer everyday as cambodian people know already.
Who signed the treaty 1979-1985 that result lost over 10 000 km2 of Cambodia??? Why don't they transparency inform all Cambodian and cambodian army at front line about these issues? Why don't include Kos Trol ( Kos Trol size is bigger than the whole Phom Phen with planty of natural resources ) in education
don't hate mr. hun sen just because you hear bad rumors from some third party or something. most cambodians like mr. hun sen and what his gov't tried to do for something. if you compare cambodia today to the KR era or post KR era, you can appreciate what gov't did for cambodia since. of course, cambodia will strife to become better as in reforms, changes, improvement, etc in many ways possible. it requires people's having patient, lots of patient, love, etc. etc... the other issue about him and his administration stayed in power too long already, etc, i say until there is a new law on term limit, there is nothing illegal about that, really!
i like mr. hun sen because he talk from his heart, he's real, and he's not afraid to speak loud, very loud in khmer language and khmer expressions, etc... so, cambodia needs a leader like him, brave, intelligent, yet law abiding, reform-minded, worked hard to improve himself, get continual education, whether self-educated, etc, etc... mr. hun sen is very smart; he's a prime example for cambodia future that no matter where you came from in your khmer background, e.g. peasant, farmer family, business family, political family, etc, etc, you can all help to make a real difference in cambodia for all, really! so god bless capable khmer individuals like him.
it goes to say in the new cambodia, no matter your family or beginning background, you too one day can become a capable khmer leader with good education, enlightment, wisdom, etc, etc, you know!
Now you can see Cambodian foreing policy lose to Thailand 100%.Thailand want bilateral talk and stop UNESCO to visit Preah vihear and finaly they get what they wanted.Hun Sen want to have an ASEAN peace keeping or some kind of committee to monitor peace but Asean will say we don't have this kind of force or committee to monitor and it also against Asean constitution too.Finally it will go back to bilateral again.The war will broke out again sometime.For the cambodian scenario,the next clashes you have to kill at least 500 Thais to make UNSC open their big eyes.You have capanle to do because you have so many Gen starts ready to died for their country. Next you have to bring this case back to Lahage and demand the chaimen of the Paris peace aggrement back to the table.
UN at this time is so weak.You look Ban Ki Moun what he can do since he become UN Secretary.Event Hun Sen little small country want to kick him out of Cambodia too.
Do not depend on anyone,you have to depend on yourseft.Kill Thai as many as you can,don't accept the white flag.Do the same as KR policy,Thai will never come up again.Good luck Hun Sen.show khmer people that you are Deicho and It's time to clean up in both side.Cambodian people will sopport you all the way.If you don't clean this messed,cambodian will clean you.
Totally agree with 3:00am! I think PM Hun Sen has reform so much,...himself for the cambodia and cambodian people, i knew that some people still hated him, but if you look at cambodia today is getting better and better..Otherwise, no foreign country want come and do business in cambodia..Korea, Japan, Thailand, Singapour, Malysia, Indonesia...etc...also China is the big one that cambodia rely on!
Hun Sen done a good jobs for cambodia!

I also like PM Hun Sen, because he meant what he said! He talks straight forward! no hidden! He is real and serious...Cambodia need someone like him inorder to ran our country stronger, i knew some people will disagree with me, but if you look cambodia today is getting better and better everytime!! We do need someone like that very serious!!
