Keeda Oikawa – Live Painter & Illustrator

វិចិត្រករជនជាតិជប៉ុនម្នាក់ឈ្មោះ Keeda Oikawa នឹងត្រឡប់មកប្រទេសកម្ពុជាម្តងទៀត បន្ទាប់ពីនាងបានធ្វើការបង្ហាញនៅឯ Java Arts នៅក្នុងឆ្នាំ២០០៥។ អ្នកនាងនឹង បង្ហាញពីការគូររូបនៅលើឆាកក្នុងកម្មវិធី TEDxPhnomPenh ដែលសហការជាមួយ លោកតា គង់ ណៃ។ Keeda Oikawa មានដើមកំនើតនៅក្នុងទីក្រុង តូក្យូ ហើយបានបញ្ចាប់ការសិក្សារនៅ សកលវិទ្យាល័យជាតិតូក្យូ ផ្នែកគំនូរ និង តន្ត្រី។ គំនូរ ការតុបតែង និង ការងារច្នៃម៉ូតរបស់នាងត្រូវបានតាំងបង្ហាញជា សាធារណៈនៅលើទំព័រទស្សនាវដ្តីធំៗជាច្រើន។ កន្លងមក នាងបានសហការធ្វើការ ជាមួយ ជាងថតរូប តន្ត្រីករ តួរសំដែង និងតារាបង្ហាញម៉ូតល្បីៗជាច្រើន។

Japanese artist Keeda Oikawa will make a return to Cambodia after performing at Java Arts in 2005, to live paint for TEDxPhnomPenh, accompanied by the esteemed Kung Nai.  Keeda was born in Tokyo and graduated from Tokyo National University of fine art & music with a degree in oil painting. Her drawings, illustrations, and design works have been widely shown in major magazines. She has collaborated with photographers, musicians, actors, and major fashion brands.

Kung Nai, often called “The Ray Charles of Cambodia,” is one of the best-known and celebrated artists in the chapei tradition. Accompanied by his own spirited strumming on the chapei dang weng (a Cambodian long-necked lute), Kung Nai, with his lively voice and tenacious word play, regularly brings audiences to their feet with his gift for improvising poetry and song. Now one of the few surviving masters in the chapei tradition who studied before the Khmer Rouge genocide in the late 1970’s—in which an estimated ninety percent of Cambodian artists perished—Kung Nai continues to strive to promote and teach this beloved art form. He will be welcoming guests at TEDxPhnomPenh alongside artist Keeda Oikawa.

Theary Seng – Title of Talk:  “Reconciling Peace with Justice in Cambodia”

កញ្ញាសេង ធារី ជាអ្នកនិពន្ធនិងជាសកម្មជនសិទ្ធមនុស្ស ហើយនិងជាស្ថាបនិកនៃ មជ្ឈមណ្ធលកម្ពុជាដើម្បីយុត្តិធម៌ ហើយនិងការផ្សៈផ្សា, មជ្ឈមណ្ឌលកម្ពុជាសំរាប់អប់រំ ស៊ីវីលហើយនិងសមាគមន៍ជនរងគ្រោះកម្ពុជាពីរបបខ្មែរក្រ ហម ។

Theary Seng is an author, a human rights activist, and the founder of the Cambodian Center for Justice & Reconciliation (CJR), Civicus: Center for Cambodian Civic Education (CIVICUS), and the Association of Khmer Rouge Victims in Cambodia (AKRVC). After the Khmer Rouge killed both her parents, she and her surviving family trekked across the border for Thailand in November 1979 and emigrated to the U.S. one year later.  She wrote Daughter of the Killing Fields (London, 2005), which will be updated and available in North America (Seven Stories Press NYC, 2011).  She is working on a second book on justice and reconciliation in light of the Khmer Rouge Tribunal and her role as the first recognized victim civil party to confront the senior Khmer Rouge leaders in international law. Theary sits on the Governing Board of various organizations, including the Affiliated Network for Social Accountability in the East Asia & Pacific (ANSA-EAP) operated by the Ateneo School of Government, now an independent Foundation registered in the Philippines; and the Human Rights Resource Center for ASEAN (HRRCA), a Foundation registered in Indonesia.

Sithen is the co-owner of CallMe translation services, which he started up with no capital. He is also General Representative of “Kon Khmer Koun Khmer,” a film collective run by Cambodian young volunteers, and the President of  “Mastermind Club.” His current project is the “Cambodian Hero Web Site,” documenting prominent historic and living Cambodian nationals. Sithen says, “All these involvements are the results or parts of what I call ‘Self-Education,’ which is a long-time, yet unused tool of learning and sharing things with Cambodian future leaders.”

Once told that his downfall from the ad business would be his “bleeding heart,” Mike believes that advertising has a greater purpose—that if it can sell cigarettes, alcohol, and fast food to the masses, it can also help people live healthier and happier lives. A former creative adman working for big brands like Nike, Coca-Cola, and Tiger Beer, Mike left the big agency lifestyle in 2009. Partnering with professionals from microfinance, development, and design, he started 17 Triggers, a behavior change lab that focuses on marketing for good causes—like inspiring Cambodians to buy a toilet, or Vietnamese mothers to save for their children’s education. At 17 Triggers, he is Creative Director and resident yoga master.

In the documentary “Enemies of the People,” the men and women of the Khmer Rouge who perpetrated the massacres—from the foot-soldiers who slit throats to the party’s ideological leader, Nuon Chea (a.k.a. Brother Number Two)—break a 30-year silence to give testimony never before heard or seen. The film is Sambath’s journey to discover not how his family was killed, but why they died. In doing so, he hears and understands for the first time the real story of his country’s tragedy. In a video presentation prepared especially for TEDxPhnomPenh, Co-Producer and Co-Director Rob Lemkin explains some of the lessons learned from making the film, and how he sees it as important for Cambodia to move toward peace and reconciliation. Sambath will be at the event to introduce the video presentation, and share his thoughts on building the future of Cambodia.

Romi Grossberg is the General Manager at Tiny Toones, a local non-government organization in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Tiny Toones offers not only an educational program but also a greater focus on the creative elements of dance, music, and art. Hip-hop, break-dancing, and rap are used as tools for engaging with street kids and the disadvantaged youth of Phnom Penh as a medium understood best by many teenagers worldwide. While the performance that has been prepared for TEDxPhnomPenh showcases Tiny Toones dancers, this presentation is about much more than just the people you will see. It is about the power of dance as a tool for expression and empowerment. It is about how dance can be used to turn negative life experiences or emotions into positive energy. The dancers have choreographed a dance piece based on true-life experiences to show you how you too can “dance your life around.”  This special presentation will feature Romi Grossberg, plus a video interview with Tuy Sobil, aka “KK,” and a performance by the Tiny Toones dancers Fresh, Homie, Diamond, Slick, Flip, Kha, Flex, and Jacky; MC Beaver, and music composition by Manner.

និង បញ្ហានៅក្នុងមាតុភូមិកម្ពុជា របស់នាង។ គូនីឡា បានពិពណ៌នាអំពីវត្ថុបំណង របស់នាងថាៈ

Author of the Blue Lady Blog, Kounila is a part of a new generation of young Cambodians using social media to express themselves about Cambodian education, politics, lifestyle, press freedom, culture, and problems facing her country. Kounila describes her aim as “to get my opinions heard by all the people, especially Cambodians. Then, we will discuss and find a way out to help Cambodia, and also people outside Cambodia will have a chance to see Cambodia from afar.” As a graduate of Media & Communication, Kounila dreams of making use of her skills to reinforce social change using traditional as well as new media.

លោកគ្រីស បានរកឃើញកម្មវិធីកុំព្យូទ័រ ឬក៏បានជាដៃគូរនៅក្នុងការបង្កើត កម្មវិធីកុំព្យូទ័រជាច្រើន ដែលមានោទនភាពដើម្បីស្ថាបនាផលិតផលទាំង ឡាយរបស់ពួកគេនៅក្នុងប្រទេសកម្ពុជា ហើយលក់វាទៅកាន់ ពិភពលោកទាំងមូល ។
លោកគ្រីសគឺជាសមាជិកសកម្មម្នាក់ចលនា (Barcamp) ដោយការចូលរួម ហើយនិងការ និយាយគ្រប់ព្រឹត្តិការទាំងឡាយគ្រប់តំបន់ ហើយក៏ជាសមាជិកអ្នករកឃើញម្នាក់ ដែរនៃ ការឈានមកដល់ របស់ (HackerSpace) ។
ទស្សនៈរបស់លោកគ្រីសចំពោះវិស័យកម្មវិធីកុំព្យូទ័រ ដើម្បីបោះជំហានតាមប្រទេស ជិតខាងដោយមិនផ្តោត ទៅលើការបញ្ចោញកម្មវិធីប្រពន្ធ័ពត៌មានវិទ្យា ប៉ុន្តែផ្តោត អារម្មណ៍ឆ្ពោះទៅរកសកម្មភាពដែលផ្តោតអារម្មណ៍ទៅលើលទ្ឋផលដែល ជំរុញឱ្យស្មារតី ក្នុងភាពជាសហគ្រិនដែល មានច្រើនសន្ធឹកសន្ធាប់នៅក្នុងប្រទេសកម្ពុជា ។
Software developer, entrepreneur, and general geek, Chris is a vocal and omnipresent figure in Cambodia’s burgeoning hacker community. Chris has founded or partnered in several software startups which are proud to have built their products in Cambodia and sold them globally. Chris is an active member of the Barcamp movement, attending and speaking at events across the region, and is also a founding member of the up-and-coming Phnom Penh HackerSpace. Chris’s vision is for Cambodia’s software sector to leap-frog its neighbors by skipping IT outsourcing and moving straight to product-focused startups fueled by the entrepreneurial spirit that Cambodia has in abundance.

Channe Suy – Title of Talk: “Building the Future of Cambodia Starts with Sharing”

ចាន់ណេ ជាអ្នកគ្រប់គ្រងផ្នែកផលិតផលនៅ InSTEDD ការងារចំបងរបស់នាងគឺផ្អែកលើ ការស្វែងយល់ពីតម្រូវការអតិថិជនគ្រប់យ៉ាង ដើម្បីធានាអោយបាននូវគុណភាពរបស់ផលិតផល។ ជាងនេះទៅទៀត នាងជាអ្នករៀបចំរចនាដំណើរការនៃការប្រើប្រាស់កម្មវិធី ធ្វើតេស្ដ និងផ្ដល់នូវសេវាប្រឹក្សាដល់អថិតិជនព្រមទាំងដៃគូទាំងអស់។ នាងក៏ធ្វើការនៅ NCHADs (National Center for HIV/AIDs, Dermantology and STD) ដើម្បីបង្កើតកម្មវិធីប្រព័ន្ធ សាររំលឹកណាត់ជួប  បន្ថែមលើកម្មវិធីដែលមានស្រាប់សម្រាប់គ្រប់គ្រងអ្នកជំងឺ។ កាលពីមុន ចាន់ណេ ធ្វើការជាមួយការកម្មវិធីបើកទូលាយដែលផ្អែកលើគេហទំព័រ ហើយក៏បានធ្វើការផ្នែកកកម្មវិធីទូរសព្ទ ពេលដែលបានមកដល់ InSTEDD។ ចាន់ណេក្នុងជាអ្នកស្មគ្រចិត្តក្នុងសហគមន៍ព័ត៌មានវិទ្យានៅកម្ពុជា ដែលបានបង្កើតកម្មវិធីចែករំលែកបទពិសោធន៍ ព្រមទាំងបច្ចេកវិទ្យាថ្មីៗអោយគ្នាទៅវិញទៅមក។ នាងបានបញ្ចប់ការសិក្សាកំរិត អនុបណ្ឌិតផ្នែកកម្មវិធីកុំព្យូទ័រ ក្នុងឆ្នាំ២០០៦ នៅសកលវិទ្យាល័យ Bangalore University ប្រទេសឥណ្ឌា។
Channe is Product Manager for InSTEDD, her primary focus being capturing user requirements for all aspects that affect the quality of their products. In addition, she also does software usability design and testing and provides on-going support to the clients/partners. She has also worked with NCHADs (National Center for HIV/AIDs, Dermantology and STD) to develop an SMS Appointment Reminder System as an extension to their current Patient Information System. In the past, Channe has worked on open source web-based applications, but started working on mobile applications when she joined InSTEDD. Channe is also a volunteer in the Cambodian IT community, helping to organize events for IT people to share information and learn from each other. She graduated with a Masters Degree in Computer Application from Bangalore University, India in 2006. Channe believes,  “Many of us in Cambodia might have different opportunity to learn something new but most of us also tend to be isolated from each other… The knowledge sharing from each individual is important contribution to build the future of Cambodia…” At TEDxPhnomPenh, she will share with us her ideas on sustainability through building local capacity.

Recently appointed as the first Executive Director of Cambodian Living Arts, Phloeun Prim was born in Cambodia and raised in Canada since the age of three. He returned to Cambodia in 1998 and joined a European Union Program that later became a self-sustainable company, which is now Artisans d’Angkor. From its debut, the group of 50 artisans has now grown to employ over 1,000 artisans and staff and is now distributing high quality crafts in Cambodia and around the world. Phloeun will share the story of his journey as a young social entrepreneur in the arts and talk about the power of art and culture to helps transform a nation. He will be accompanied by two performers of smot chanting, a complex and demanding way of melodically reciting Khmer and Pali literature.
