The Royal Thai Armed Forces has approved the use of the Chakrabongse Bhuvanart national defence plan which involves deploying troops of the three armed forces to guard the Thai-Cambodian border from Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi and Trat.
A military source said Songkitti Jaggabatara, the supreme commander, had approved the Chakrabongse Bhuvanart plan as the national defensive strategy for the eastern region.
The source said Thai troops mobilised near the 4.6 square kilometre disputed area around Preah Vihear Temple amounted to about 15,000. This was about the same number of Cambodian troops that have been deployed in the area.
Under the Chakrabongse Bhuvanart plan, the Army's Burapa Task Force will operate along the border in Sa Kaeo and Prachin Buri provinces. The Suranaree Task Force will cover the lower northeastern provinces with the Phra Viharn 54 Operation Plan.
The navy's marines in the border protection force in Chanthaburi and Trat and other armed forces have been placed on standby. Altogether, more than 23,000 marines and air force troops will be deployed.
The source said the air force will send fighter jets to patrol along the border, while supporting land operations.
The air force could deploy the F16 fighter jets from Nakhon Ratchasima to the border area near Preah Vihear in Si Sa Ket province in less than 10 minutes.
ACM Itthaporn Subhawong, the air force commander, said even though the air force was prepared to deploy its F16 fighter jets, he believed it would not need to do so as confrontations between the two countries are "only small skirmishes".
He said he still believed the two countries could settle the dispute through peaceful negotiations.
On continual skirmishes in the disputed area, Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwon said Thai forces will fire back whenever Cambodia troops fire at them to protect the country's sovereignty.
Gen Songkitti insisted Thai troops had never opened fire at Cambodian troops first. "Troops of both countries don't want to fire at each other - we both lose," he said.

Khmer might not have the advantange because Chinese might not support Khmer because they're afraid that if they do the US will get involve granted that the US is already involve by silencing. Siam (kapeek) brought in M1A (one of the meanest tanks out there I know for sure because I used to ride in one of them when I was in the Marine Corps) and other modern weapons. And khmer have what some left over craps from Vietnamese and China. Militarily and weaponary speaking, we Khmer, are out guns by the Siam. The only way, is for Sihanouk again begging Mr. Hu for help. YOu know Thai got US/UK behind them already. Of course KI people here will keep on hate Hun Sen and hope that ah kapeek will take over srok khmer so that they will install Sam Rainy as the leader.

Thailand can use all their modern weapons all they want but soon or later it will fall into Cambodian soldiers hand.
If you never experience a war in Cambodia, don't over underestimate Khmer fighters. Yes we are smaller and weaker than Thailand but our hearts and souls are bigger than them and we're not afraid of the Thais either.
To the Marine who just made comment here, you are so wrong about Cambodia. Yes you might be scared at those weapons and I know its intimidating to you but not to the Cambodian soldiers. We experienced three decades of civil war so go figure. Don't let those intimidating weapons scares you because it will cloud your judgment which will lead you to surrender to the enemies. You need more war fighting experience especially in jungle warfare. Fighting a war a long the US don't mean shit in Irag or Afghanistan cuz you u got too much support. You need a real combat so its better for you to join the Khmer brothers at the border. Its all physically and mentally in the jungle and you will understand.

If Yourn really sent their fighting force to Preah Vi Hear, it' s bad news for Thai as well as Cambodia.
Cambodia has to repay Yourn with more lands.
For Thai Land, They are way better equipped with more modern weapons but they have no experience in fighting. They will be no match with the very experienced Yourn.

I don't see how Thailand can launch a full scale war on Cambodia by air, sea, and land because their logistics are so outdated! Let assume that US and the UK help Thailand move the Siem troop, the materials, and the supplies to the frontline and it would be too expensive for Thailand!
Cambodia will be the place to test modern weapons from around the world! Without a doubt Cambodia will be the Afghanistan of Southeast Asia for the Siem military thugs!
