BANGKOK, Feb 11 (Bernama) -- Thai Army Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha confirmed Friday that border rows between Thailand and Cambodia are to be resolved bilaterally through negotiations, Thai News Agency (TNA) reported.
General Prayuth admitted that to end unsettled border issues between the two neighbouring countries will take some time, reiterating that bilateral negotiations with patience are necessary.
The Thai army chief said that civilian evacuation plans have been put in place as a precaution and Thai soldiers have been on alert along the border to maintain security in the wake of a spate of clashes between Thai and Cambodian border troops near Thailand's northeastern Si Sa Ket Province from February 4-6.
Meanwhile, local villagers in Si Sa Ket's Kantharalak District have gradually returned home under the safeguard of troops from Thailand's 2nd Army Area Command; while local bomb disposal teams have continued inspecting border areas on the Thai side to ensure public safety.

To the above comments, prejudice goes both ways. Not all dark skin Cambodians are automatically chosen to fight in the front line, but they are in the military because they are poor. The military is an easy way to make a living. Most Chinese Cambodians would be in the military too if they are poor. That would happen to all poor in other countries and not just in Cambodia. My uncles had to enlist in military after the VN invasion because there weren’t any job available, and he had no rice field to farm like most dark skin Cambodians. Chinese Cambodians make a lot the contribution, and also have suffered severally in Cambodia. Cambodia needs smart Chinese to progress now and in the future. Otherwise Cambodia will demise just like the era of the Pol Pot regime when those stupid dark skin Cambodians were chosen to be leaders at all level.
