Thai, Cambodian Soldiers Clash in Fresh Border Skirmish

Thai and Cambodian authorities say fresh fighting broke out between their soldiers, with each side once again blaming the other. The new skirmish came shortly after the United Nations Security Council urged the two countries to impose a ceasefire around the disputed border, which saw heavy fighting earlier this month.

The Thai military on Tuesday said Cambodian soldiers in the early morning attacked a border post, injuring five soldiers - one of them seriously.

Thai military spokesman Colonel Werachon Sukondhapatipak said at least one grenade was thrown at the post and Thai soldiers fired back with rifles. He said they were expecting attacks after the United Nations Security Council declined Cambodia's request to send peacekeeping troops to the area.

"We believe that the leadership of the Cambodia were not happy with that result and they will try to do anything that [is] provocative in order to have the Thai soldier retaliate," said Werachon.

However, Phay Siphan, a spokesman for Cambodia’s Council of Ministers, denies his country’s troops fired first. He said Thai soldiers attacked first.

"Last night from 10:30, I mean in the evening, to 5:20 in the morning, 11 grenades have been thrown by Thai (soldiers)," said Phay.

Phay said no Cambodian soldiers were injured and they did not retaliate.

Fighting broke out two weeks ago in a disputed border area near a 900-year-old Khmer Hindu temple called Preah Vihear in Cambodia and Phra Viharn in Thailand.

Thai and Cambodian militaries exchanged heavy artillery and machine gun fire, killing several people and sending thousands fleeing the border.

Both sides blame the other for starting the fighting. Cambodia wants international help to prevent further fighting, while Thailand says the issue should be resolved bilaterally.

On Monday, the foreign ministers of the two countries met with the United Nations Security Council. The Security Council urged them to implement a permanent ceasefire and to work with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations to end the dispute.

ASEAN foreign ministers are to discuss the issue next week in Jakarta.

Tensions first erupted in 2008 when the temple, which is in Cambodia - but with its main entrance in Thailand - was listed as a U.N. World Heritage site.

Thai nationalists objected, some of them claiming the temple is in Thailand, and both sides began building up military forces in the area, leading to occasional skirmishes.

This is so sickening! The Siem thuggish leaders dare to call on Cambodian government to listen to the UN? While the Siem thuggish warmonger leaders are sending more troops, tanks, and guns to the Cambodian border! Now you Siem thuggish leaders want Cambodian government to settle, to talk, and to cooperate with you? This is defying all logic! Here the Siem leaders are commanding that Cambodian government must come to the table to negotiate but at the same time they bring more troops, more tanks, and more guns to Cambodian border to create hostile environment which is not conducive for any kinds of negotiation at all! Cambodian government will not be pressured into any form of negotiation whether by the use of military force by Siem thuggish warmonger leaders or by international pressure!

The Cambodian government had been patience long enough with these Siem thugs and thieves even before AH Abishit come to power! The bilateral mechanism through peaceful negotiation was used over the years and in fact the bilateral mechanism was high hope for Cambodian government to bring last peace to end the border conflict but it is the Siem thuggish warmongers leaders who destroyed it! Cambodian government had been talking and negotiation many times over the years before the war broke out!

The whole Siem-Cambodian border conflict is not Cambodian problem and it is the Siem problem for violating Cambodian sovereignty according to international law! The Siem thuggish leaders better own the fucken problem instead of playing the blame game on Cambodia! If Thailand want to be surrounded by enemies just keep doing the same thing expect different result and keep on demanding Cambodian government of the impossible such as using bilateral mechanism which the Siem thuggish that they can buy more time to create more problems for Cambodia!

Siem leaders have a choice to make and it is up them if they want to be a good neighbor or a bad neighbor! Just say no to Siem style bilateral talk and negotiation! Cambodian government is only following the international law and reserve the right to self-defense and to protect her sovereignty!

This is all about Thailand tries to set up a position to pressure Cambodia right before the next ASEAN meeting. Thai government will do what ever PAD demand. Even though Thai Gov. repeatedly said they don't follow the PAD demands, but their actions did.

Cambodia has to be careful.

The truth will be reveal. So far only the thief provokes the fight. Cambodian not dare start the fire. Just look at the past tail when the thief sent troops there in the first place. The thief has been known using dirty tactic and twisting the story all along. Cambodia always respects the UN, but the thief thinks that they are above all.

All problems started from Thailand first, they used bulldozer and othe equippment, bring their ground troops into Sombok Khmum the same time, they even fire shot first, when attempt to stop them! We have no choice but tor fire back...
