PHNOM PENH, Feb 18 (MCOT online news) -- Despite an ongoing border conflict which has caused bloody fighting sporadically along their frontier, Thailand and Cambodia have held their first ever business summit in the Cambodian capital of Phnom Penh.
Thai Deputy Prime Minister Trairong Suwannakhiri and Deputy Commerce Minister Alongkorn Ponlaboot held talks Thursday with Cambodia’s Deputy Prime Minster Keat Chhon and Commerce Minister Cham Prasidh in a cordial atmosphere with both sides agreeing that the border problem would not pose an obstacle to trade between the two neighbours.
Talks were focused on bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, logistics, tourism and human resources development.
The Thai side also proposed during the meeting to increase the number of permanent border checkpoints and to increase the number of trucks carrying goods to 150 daily from the 40 currently permitted. At present there are only six permanent border checkpoints between the two neighbours.
The meeting was the first between senior officials of the two countries following bloody clashes at the disputed border between February 4-7 which left at least eight persons dead on both sides.
The Thai delegates were in Phnom Penh also to attend a four-day Thailand Trade Fair, which began Thursday.
Of 175 booths at the trade fair, 150 booths are Thai participants, including 53 private companies and 25 booths which belong to Cambodian traders.
Two-way trade in 2010 was valued at about Bt81 billion, up 20 per cent from the previous year, as Bangkok and Phnom Penh have extended cooperation to boost private trade and investment.
Thursday’s business summit was held under the Thai Commerce Ministry’s plan to boost trade with the country’s eastern neighbour under the so-called “3 rings and 5 doors”, a the government mission to revamp Thailand’s logistics to be the hub of Asia.
Thailand’s ambitious project is aimed at connecting the country to the wider world and eventually facilitate trade with its neighbours.

Cambodian army at front line suffer under rain, wind, bullets, bombs,lack of foods, lack of nutrition, their families have no health care help, no securities after they die but a very small group eat well, sleep well, sleep in first class hotel with air conditioning with young girls message, have super health care from oversea medical treatment, they are billionairs, millionairs who sell out the country to be rich and make cambodian people suffer everyday as cambodian people know already.
Who signed the treaty 1979-1985 that result lost over 10 000 km2 of Cambodia??? Why don't they transparency inform all Cambodian and cambodian army at front line about these issues? Why don't include Kos Trol ( Kos Trol size is bigger than the whole Phom Phen with planty of natural resources ) in education

Thai has American and UN full support. Small Asean countrues can't do much good to Cambodia. Where are their weapons come from? They just come to suck Cambodia natural resource such oil 2012 and mine, forest, lands, sea as China and Vietnam demonstrate in the past 1970-Now. ( China support Khmer rough give rushty AK and now weapons again Viet tanks, Viet support Hun Sen regime khmer poor until now but Hun Sen families, relative and friends are spending $US 2000 per night club everyday ).
Cambodian people if Hun Sen regime still remain you will never ever get life style as Singapoor, America, Japan at all. You will at the age of 81 years pushing cyclo everyday for the money to buy foods.

Hun Sen can't update military weapons due to Hun Sen's regime so much currupted. They use the nation money for them pockets only.
Thai PM is not perfect as I know but it is much better than Hun Sen. He and his families, relatives and friends make all cambodian people are suffering everyday but They are billionairs, millionairs abuse all khmer girls and people.
