A group of military attaches of 12 countries on Thursday paid a two-hour visit to Preah Vihear temple and surrounding areas to see the damages caused by mortar and artillery shelling during the deadly clashes early last month between the Cambodian and Thai troops.
The team of military attaches from 12 embassies in Phnom Penh included the United States, France, Russia, China, Japan, Canada, Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, New Zealand, Malaysia and Australia.
Cambodian four-star general Neang Phat, secretary of state of the Ministry of Defense, led the group during the visit.
The group was welcomed at the temple by four-star general Chea Dara, deputy commander-in-chief of Royal Cambodian Armed Forces for Preah Vihear Direction, and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen' s eldest son Hun Manet, deputy commander of the Headquarters of Infantry.
"Cambodia wanted the military attaches to see with their own eyes the damages caused by Thai shelling in the recent war," Chea Dara said during the delegation visit.
He has ushered the delegation to see craters, cracks, broken pieces of Preah Vihear temple caused by Thai artillery shelling.
"At the behest of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, Cambodian troops vow to defend our territory from any invasion of Thailand," he said.
"Cambodia has never invaded into other countries, we want a border of peace and cooperation, but if they invade into ours, we have to exercise self-defense rights."
The visit followed a similar visit by military attachs to the Thai side of the border on Feb. 21, organized by Thai Defense Ministry.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said Thursday that 414 shells of mortar and artillery fired by Thai troops which had fallen on the temple in the war on Feb. 4-7.
Cambodia and Thailand have had border conflict just a week after Cambodia's Preah Vihear temple was enlisted as the World Heritage Site on July 7, 2008.
The conflict is due to Thai claim of the ownership of 4.6 sq km of scrub next to the temple, which resulted in a military build-up along the border, and periodic clashes between Cambodian and Thai soldiers have resulted in the deaths of troops on both sides.
The latest clashes on Feb. 4-7, with a barrage of artillery shells unleashed on both sides of the border, had claimed the lives of soldiers and civilians on both sides and also caused tens of thousands of the two countries' villagers near the disputed areas fleeing for safe shelters.

KHMER People Power (KPP)
Khmer people must be thinking a long term solutions for CAMBODIA. The Vietnamese never helped CAMBODIA since the first Century. The Vietnamese always took an opportunities to weaken and used the Khmer Krazy Kings to broke them self apart, so the Khmer people are powerless and unable to reclaim the Khmer Krom land and unable to protecting CAMBODIA from the Vietnamese expansionism.
Vietnamese using Hun Sen and Khmer people to fight Thai, so Khmer people will have no strength, men power, money, supplies, and etc. to protecting their motherland CAMBODIA from the Vietnamese expansion. All Hun Sen's troops are trained and supplied by the Vietnamese Government. This is why Hun Sen don't bother to protect the Cambodia-Vietnam border according to the French Bonne Map of 1954. The Vietnamese Government also changed the Cambodian History and Geographic in the Cambodian textbooks for the Public Schools in CAMBODIA.
Hun Sen cannot even protected Angkor Wat temples inside CAMBODIA from the Vietnamese took over. Angkor Wat owned by the Vietnamese tycoon Sok Kong and owner of Sokimex oil company operated in CAMBODIA. Most of the big buildings, structures, companies, land, farms, parks, forests, etc. in CAMBODIA are sold by Hun Sen to foreigners. Khmer people only sight seeing and 70% of Khmer people living below poverty line are living in slums and like hell. While all the Vietnamese in CAMBODIA are living in haven.
Hun Sen is most careless and stupid Prime Minister on earth for oppressing, forced evictions and killing his own people. Hun Sen wasted hundreds of millions US dollars and Khmer bloods for Preah Vihear temple (4.5 sq. km) conflicted with Thai and ignored the Vietnamese take over CAMBODIA (181,000 sq. km).
Now which country is taking over CAMBODIA? Vietnamese or Thai?

Khmer people needed People Power inside CAMBODIA, Khmer oversea, and United Nations in order to protect CAMBODIA from the Vietnamese expansion. Khmer people power must take back the power from Hun Sen and stop allowing him controlling and treating Khmer people like human wastes. Every governments in every country is running by people power, the President or Prime Minister alone cannot run the country without people.
The Vietnamese agendas are to kill all the Khmer population in Indochina from Khmer Krom to Khmer Surin. The Preah Vihear temple conflict will never be ending, because the Vietnamese will press Hun Sen harder to get more land from Thai. But Thai will never give anything to any country and no country ever control Thailand since Independence in 1200's until now. Hun Sen is playing a very deadly game on the Khmer population by confronting and troops build-up on the Cambodan-Thai border is like fighting a tiger with beared hand. The Cambodian troops will have a short life and short term on the border because of starvation, diseases, low salary, problems at home, antique weapons, and etc.

Elitist attitudes of wealthier asian countries towards Cambodia/Cambodians
Having been to a few countries in Asia over the past few months (arriving recently in Phnom Penh), I've come across a common theme whereby the locals of the wealther countries tend to look down on countries that aren't as well off. It was most evident in Malaysia, who appear to declare themself top dog of that region, it all felt very petty. I'm sure there's a bit of this in Europe etc, though I'm sure they're a little more subtle about it.
I was talking to one bird in Vietnam who had lived in Cambodia for four years. Upon asking what she thought of it, she responded she didn't like it there. Why? Her response was 'skin too dark'. Wtf, you live somewhere for four years, and the experience you take away from there is the peoples skin is too dark? Seriously, asians need to get over this darker skin = lower status thing. I asked a number of Vietnamese what they thought of Cambodia, and all of them seemed to have a low regard for Cambodians.
Then I come to Cambodia (Phnom Penh only so far), it's a whole lot different than what I expected, probably because I'd heard stories from what it was like 10 years ago (and from what I understand, it's changed dramatically in that time). Many things are more expensive than Vietnam, and comparing capital cities alone, in many respects it feels a cut above Saigon. For example taxi drivers take more pride in appearance, markets seem cleaner/more organised, and people don't seem to be as lazy. After hearing all the negative attitudes in Vietnam, it seems laughable that they look down so much on Cambodia. No doubt I only have a fairly narrow experience to draw from (other areas are likely in a pretty bad state), but if I were to place bets on which country will outperform in the long term, my money would be on Cambodia. Don't get me wrong, I loved Vietnam, just find some of their attitudes perplexing. For anyone who has been in Cambodia for a while, do you feel they're likely to pull ahead, and perhaps eliminate the negative stigma, or are my observations too far skewed from being in a tourist heavy region?
Every country has its own boundary and God knows which country is which. So, no one is allowed to claim knowing that it is not theirs in the first place. If anyone does, well they have to pay the price that is death, it is forbiden to separate the mother land from its nation, they can however being part of its citizen/nation by helping to improve the nation and its country.
Be true to yourself and to others. Do not take from what is not yours to take. Do not steal or manipulate or lied. Just try to find solution toward a win/win not a win/lose and ask yourself, how do you feel when you win? 'happy' and how do you feel when you lose? 'sad' there you go. No one wants to lose. So win/win is a way of life, like when you are happy, I'm happy but you are sad, I'm sad...Wisdom
Ah Hun Sen is playing game by shifting the focus on other issue when there are a lot of issues in the country such as million of youns in srok Khmer, Land grabbing and deforestation etc...
