Can Your Truck Haul This Much Stuff?

March 15, 2011

Former PUTC intern Robby DeGraff is studying overseas and caught up with this overworked and overloaded Toyota Hilux Mighty-X in Cambodia. It appears to be a mid- to late-1990s model with a 2.8-liter four-cylinder diesel.

Robby calls this the Phnom Penh heavy-duty payload torture test. We agree and we're wondering if the new Ford Ranger and Chevy Colorado will be able to do the same.

actually, i like scene like this in cambodia. it's not overloading like this that kills, it's speeding, i think! drivers should be educated to always observe the speed limit, etc. signs should be posted all along cambodia roadways and so on! make them big and visible so everyone can see it! god bless.

This picture is saying about sorry state of Cambodian transportation! This is to show that Cambodian people still lack the basic of transportation of moving goods and services! Cambodian people still lack behind other countries in basic transportation. Cambodia can't modernize without advance transportation including land, sea, and air!
