I like the Cambodian Navy above with
3 men on boat.
This is a very impressive book to read. it tells all about the 5-yr war between Khmer and Khmer fighting each other to their death.
But now, Viet armies are every where in Cambodia. Are Khmer solders under Ah Chhke HUN SEN dare to do any thing to protect the country or protect their innocent peoples ????????????
I doubt it that they will.
The problems with Cambodians is that they could not, cannot and will probably not be able to set aside their differences, jealousy and desire for individual power in order to work together, for the sake of the very country and people they all claim to love, with a spirit of forgiveness and apparent desire to hold no grudge against each other.
Look at the 1970 coup d'etat against Norodom Sihanouk and his desire to get back to power and revenge Lon Nol by joining with the Khmer Rouge whom he always hates. His action was then not for the Cambodian people, but simply for himself and his family. In hindsight he should have retired from politics then because though he is considered now to be a King Father of Cambodia, a title to be coveted; he knows deep down in his heart that he was part of the machine that created the killing fields and devastating destruction in Cambodia. Thus in reality a choice to go into retirement when overthrown in 1970 could have served him better in the history book.
Lon Nol and prince Sirimatak were also very short-sighted in staging the coup against Sihanouk since they should have predicted that the then prince Sihanouk would join hands with the Khmer Rouge and the North Vietnamese since that would be the only choice for him to do because of his desire to come back to power and his close association with China.
Pol Pot and his group, when in power, went completely berserk changing everything around and killing to ensure that his regime under him would be in power for ever. Like any other leaders before him, Cambodia is always the last item on the priority list in their mind.
The involvement of Hun Sen, Chea Sim and Heng Samrin with the Vietnamese in the removal of Mr. Pen Sovann is another clear case of power and greed among the Cambodian leaders at the expense of Cambodia, the country we all love.
Look at what Hun Sen is doing right now to Cambodia and you can see clearly that the premier serves his interest, family and clans first before anything else. He will destroy the country and her people, if necessary, in order to hang on to his power.
He is definitely willing to go to another civil war if people revolt against him and obviously he can always call on his Vietnamese friends for help to cling on to his power.
I hope Cambodia will one day finds a truely nationalistic leader capable of working together with ohter Cambodians of all political tendencies in a very friendly and cooperative manner with a joined intention and desire to put Cambodia's priority, her people and her destiny as the top items in the priority list.
Do we still have time left for that leader? I invite all of you to answer this question.
For me, I can only hope that we still have time.

Your Lon Nol was a complete idiot who clung on to power even though the Khmer people in the Khmer Republic controlled areas voted him out in the presidential election of 1972.
It was Mr. In Tam who legitimately won the election, but your so-called power and sex-hungry marshal Lon Nol refused to step down even though the students had made several protests against his very corrupted regime. Your Lon Nol's regime has nothing to brag about as it is even more corrupt than Sihanouk's regime.
In addition your Lon Nol also married a very young Chinese Cambodian lady even though he suffered from stroke.
Your Lon Nol has no credibility in my judgement and I will make sure that his bad side of the story will be in Cambodian history and you can count on that.
Lon Nol did not even want to leave his office. It was the Americans who tried to get him out knowing that he is a useless piece of shit!
FANK During Lon Nol regime still look better than Hun Sen Army at all kind.

It sounds like you are the only few Khmers who love their country and the rest who happens to disagree with you about the Khmer Republic is all bad, either being in love with Vietnamese or with the Thais.
Remember that if you can claim to love Cambodia, any Cambodian can claim the same. You are not the only person who loves your country and the country does not just belong to your group of Khmer Republic.
I was in Cambodia just like you in the 70s and I am still in Cambodia and I don't like the Khmer Republic at all, just to let you know and don't tell me that I am a Cambodian with a Vietnamese head!

Let me remind you that in 1973 your Khmer Republic of Lon Nol and Sirimatak ordered his soldiers to shoot at the law students and kill a number of innocent student protesters who were very unhappy with the way thing was going in Cambodia under your beloved Marshal Lon Nol.
How about his younger corrupted and ruthless brother by the name of Lon Non who served as his assassin to carry out all the dirty orders to kill innocent students and civilians who protested against his government. Don't forget that Lon Non used many soldiers under him to carry out not the state order, but his own brother's personal orders to eliminate the oppositions.
How is your hero Lon Nol different from any other bad Cambodian leaders?
Also many Khmer Republic soldiers were underpaid very badly and the pay was usually late whereas your Lon Nol, Sirimatak and your chief of the army, the corrupted Sosten Fernandes had so much money, especially the very corrupted Sosten Fernandes who deposited millions of dollars in the foreign bank accounts.
You can lie to other people, but you can't convince me about your Khmer Republic. I tell you again that I hate your Khmer Republic as it was only better than the Khmer Rouge regime and that is it.
Remember it is not hard to beat the Khmer Rouge since they are at the bottom of the pit anyway when it comes governing and running a country.

The Khmer Republic regime can only beat the Khmer Rouge regime since it lasted for 5 years whereas the Khmer Rough regime lasted only 3 years 8 months and 20 days.
