A law reform action group expects Cambodia's United Nations-backed war crimes court will dismiss two new cases against Khmer Rouge suspects.
If the charges are dropped, it would follow political pressure, the group said.
Clair Duffy from Open Society Justice Initiative says all of the information they have suggests an imminent dropping of the cases against the five suspects.
The court has yet to announce whether it will go ahead with a third and fourth case against five unnamed members of the brutal 1975-1979 regime.
Court monitors say a decision is expected in the next few weeks.
The court has been dogged by allegations of political interference and strapped for cash.
Ms Duffy says any decision to dismiss these cases will have profound implications for the legacy of the court.
