Cambodia and Vietnam on Saturday pledged to boost political and economic cooperation for the interests of the two nations, Srey Thamrong, a minister attached to the Prime Minister Hun Sen, told reporters on Saturday.
During his one-hour meeting with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, the visiting Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung said that his visit to Cambodia was to strengthen and expand political and economic ties between the two neighboring countries, especially to boost Vietnamese investors to Cambodia, Srey Thamrong told reporters after the meeting.
The two premiers agreed on all points in the negotiation on land boundary demarcation and pledged to push the border demarcation between Cambodia and Vietnam to complete before 2012 in order to build a border line with peace, cooperation and development for the interests of the two countries' people, he added.
In the last few years, major Vietnamese investors have flocked to do businesses in Cambodia and help to develop Cambodia's economy, especially the investment in rubber plantations.
Hun Sen has highly appreciated the good cooperation between the two countries and also informed Dung about the two straight days of armed conflict between Cambodian and Thailand troops at Ta Krabey and Ta Mon temples and some areas along the border in Oddar Meanchey province.
Dung said that Vietnam is extremely concerned over the issue and has already informed Thai ambassador to Hanoi about its concern over the issue.
Meanwhile, the two prime ministers unanimously expressed concern over the impact that could result from the construction of the Xayaburi hydro-electric dam in Laos.
The two premiers agreed to suggest Laos to cooperate with Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand to study thoroughly about the environment impact before deciding building the dam.
After the meeting, the two premiers witnessed a signing ceremony of two documents, including the Joint Venture Agreement on the Establishment of Cambodia Angkor Air and the memorandum of understanding on the modification in some remaining areas of the land boundary between the governments of Cambodia and Vietnam.
Nguyen Tan Dung, headed a high delegation, arrived here on Saturday to pay a two-day working visit at the invitation of his Cambodian counterpart Hun Sen.

Why do Koh Tral Island, known in Vietnam as Phu Quoc, a sea and land area covering proximately over 10,000 km2 [Note: the actual land size of Koh Tral itself is 574 square kilometres (222 sq miles)] have been lost to Vietnam by whose treaty? Why don’t Cambodia government be transparent and explain to Cambodia army at front line and the whole nation about this? Why don't they include this into education system? Why?
Cambodian armies are fighting at front line for 4.6 km2 on the Thai border and what's about over 10,000km2 of Cambodia to Vietnam. Nobody dare to talk about it! Why? Cambodian armies you are decide the fate of your nation, Cambodian army as well as Cambodian people must rethink about this again and again. Is it fair?
Koh Tral Island, the sea and land area of over 10,000 square kilometres have been lost to Vietnam by the 1979 to 1985 treaties. Hun Sen name means:
