Cambodia's Prime Minister makes less than a Burger King cashier.
So he says, at least. Here's Hun Sen, a former Khmer Rogue cadet-turned-political gamesman holding a certificate that details his income. Like all Cambodian politicians and bureaucrats, he's now required by law to divulge his earnings every two years.
He only makes $1,150 per month, his official salary.
Does anyone believe this?
Not really.
Cambodia's government is one of the world's most corrupt, according to Transparency International, which puts the country in the same league as Afghanistan and Sierra Leone. Half of all Cambodians, their survey says, paid a bribe in the last 12 months.
In spirit, Cambodia's newfound anti-corruption push is great. Roughly 100,000 bureaucrats and politicians have to declare their property, vehicles, business interests and other holdings. Lie and get a year in prison and a $500 fine.
But the loopholes are big enough to fly a jet through. No one has to divulge the assets of their spouses or kids. And all the assets are confidential. (Hun Sen was just feeling confessional when he invited reporters to witness his declaration.)
Also, bank accounts outside the country aren't monitored, so says a researcher for Global Witness explains to ABC Radio Australia.
And let's assume there's no receipt and tax form issued for the bribes paid by half of all Cambodians.

Koh Tral Island must not be forgotten

Why do Koh Tral Island, known in Vietnam as Phu Quoc, a sea and land area covering proximately over 10,000 km2 [Note: the actual land size of Koh Tral itself is 574 square kilometres (222 sq miles)] have been lost to Vietnam by whose treaty? Why don’t Cambodia government be transparent and explain to Cambodia army at front line and the whole nation about this? Why don't they include this into education system? Why?
Cambodian armies are fighting at front line for 4.6 km2 on the Thai border and what's about over 10,000km2 of Cambodia to Vietnam. Nobody dare to talk about it! Why? Cambodian armies you are decide the fate of your nation, Cambodian army as well as Cambodian people must rethink about this again and again. Is it fair?
Koh Tral Island, the sea and land area of over 10,000 square kilometres have been lost to Vietnam by the 1979 to 1985 treaties. The Cambodian army at front line as well as all Cambodian people must rethink again about these issues. Are Cambodian army fighting to protect the Cambodia Nation or protecting a very small group that own big lands, big properties or only protecting a small group but disguising as protecting the Khmer nation?
The Cambodian army at front lines suffer under rain, wind, bullets, bombs, lack of foods, lack of nutrition and their families have no health care assistance, no securities after they died but a very small group eat well, sleep well, sleep in first class hotel with air conditioning system with message from young girls, have first class medical care from oversea medical treatments, they are billionaires, millionaires who sell out the country to be rich and make the Cambodian people suffer everyday.
Who signed the treaty 1979-1985 that resulted in the loss over 10,000 km2 of Cambodia??? Why they are not being transparent and brave enough to inform all Cambodians and Cambodian army at front line about these issues? Why don't they include Koh Tral (Koh Tral size is bigger than the whole Phom Phen and bigger than Singapore [Note: Singapore's present land size is 704 km2 (271.8 sq mi)]) with heap of great natural resources, in the Cambodian education system?
Look at Hun Sen's families, relatives and friends- they are billionaires, millionaires. Where did they get the money from when we all just got out of war with empty hands [in 1979]? Hun Sen always say in his speeches that Cambodia had just risen up from the ashes of war, just got up from Year Zero with empty hands and how come they are billionaires, millionaires but 90% of innocent Cambodian people are so poor and struggling with their livelihood every day?

i applaud the prime minister for taken unprecedented step to help cambodia rid of that hated corruption that steal from cambodia and khmer people! in cambodian history, no past gov't had ever done this before, so, glad to see the prime minister reformed and cambodia reformed, etc... of course, something has gotten to start somewhere, somehow, you know!

Hun Sen has been misled by Communist Vietnam Hanoi leader and Vietnamese/CPP members in Phnom Penh. Then, the people and country of Cambodia have been misled by Hun Sen for more than 30 years.
So, under the stinky leadership of Hun Sen, in the 21st century or in the modern day, Cambodia still does NOT have the following under Hun Sen's 30-years leadership and operation (controlled by his Vietnam Hanoi and CPP members):
1. modern and high-tech hospitals,
2. modern medical schools,
3. modern roads and railroads/trains
4. modern bridges,
5. big modern airports,
6. big modern seaports,
7. modern public health centers for poor people,
8. modern public transportation,
9. modern emergency ambulances,
10. modern police cars and equipments,
11. free enterprise,
12. freedom for every Cambodian citizen to express and bring the ideas and suggestions to rebuild Cambodia,
13. fitness centers,
14. modern police equipments and uniforms
15. more and so on...
Again, Hun Sen still dose not see how ugly is it under his leadership and operation are controlled by his Communist Vietnam Hanoi and Vietnamese/CPP members.
Cambodia is very rich with natural resources, rich cultures, and so on. The Cambodia have everything and why are Cambodian people still poor today and lack of food and lack of full access to health care and educations?
Cambodian has been under those Communist leaders coming from Vietnam since 1979 and there is nothing really developed in the modern day. It is very disappointing to Cambodian people. It is time for Cambodia to clean up those messes under Hun Sen, Vietnamese CPP members or leader in Phnom Penh and the control of Communist Vietnam Hanoi leaders.
Prime Minister Hun Sen where is Koh Trol ? Is Koh Trol belong to Vietnam or Cambodia ?
