KAMPUCHEA KROM AT A GLANCE

Kampuchea Krom is composed of 68,965 square kilometers, 21 provinces and municipalities, two large islands - Koh Tral and Koh Tralach, 171 districts, 1,368 communes, 14,778 villages, more than 13 million Khmers, more than 567 Buddhist pagodas and more than 20,000 Theravada Buddhist monks.

99% of populations are Theravada Buddhists.

The Khmer kings, governments, regimes and citizens have never relinquish (give up) this part of their country to foreigners.

Kampuchea Krom has been under an ongoing colonial control since her division from motherland, Cambodia.

June 4, 1949 is the date that the Khmer Kampuchea Krom citizens grieve. The Khmer Kampuchea Krom people have organized Buddhist Service annually to honor the fallen Khmer Buddhist monks and heroes, who sacrificed their lives for Kampuchea Krom and Theravada Buddhism.

Colonial France divided, ceded and transferred Kampuchea Krom to colonial Vietnam on this date. The freedom of Khmer Kampuchea Krom has been mostly stripped by the Vietnamese ruling regimes and governments since. The French colonial administration committed injustice upon the more than 13 million Khmers of this beautiful fertile land.

Justice remains elusive for Cambodia, Kampuchea Krom and her citizens.

And...The struggle to regain freedom and human rights by the Khmers in Kampuchea Krom continues as long as injustice commits by the ruling Vietnamese regime(s) has not produced a fruitful result.

Koh Tral (Tral Island)
in Vietnamese - Phu Quoc island
circa 1939 Vietnamese encroached and conquered

Koh Tral Island has an area of 567 square kilometers; about 62 kilometers long and between 3 kilometers and 28 kilometers wide. The island physically is located closest to Cambodia's Kep seaside city. Visitors can see Koh Tral Island from the coastline of Kep. It is about a 30-minute motorized boat ride.

Koh Tral Island must not be forgotten

By Ms. Rattana Keo

Why do Koh Tral Island, known in Vietnam as Phu Quoc, a sea and land area covering proximately over 10,000 km2 [Note: the actual land size of Koh Tral itself is 574 square kilometres (222 sq miles)] have been lost to Vietnam by whose treaty? Why don’t Cambodia government be transparent and explain to Cambodia army at front line and the whole nation about this? Why don't they include this into education system? Why?

Cambodian armies are fighting at front line for 4.6 km2 on the Thai border and what's about over 10,000km2 of Cambodia to Vietnam. Nobody dare to talk about it! Why? Cambodian armies you are decide the fate of your nation, Cambodian army as well as Cambodian people must rethink about this again and again. Is it fair?

Koh Tral Island, the sea and land area of over 10,000 square kilometres have been lost to Vietnam by the 1979 to 1985 treaties. The Cambodian army at front line as well as all Cambodian people must rethink again about these issues. Are Cambodian army fighting to protect the Cambodia Nation or protecting a very small group that own big lands, big properties or only protecting a small group but disguising as protecting the Khmer nation?

The Cambodian army at front lines suffer under rain, wind, bullets, bombs, lack of foods, lack of nutrition and their families have no health care assistance, no securities after they died but a very small group eat well, sleep well, sleep in first class hotel with air conditioning system with message from young girls, have first class medical care from oversea medical treatments, they are billionaires, millionaires who sell out the country to be rich and make the Cambodian people suffer everyday.

Who signed the treaty 1979-1985 that resulted in the loss over 10,000 km2 of Cambodia??? Why they are not being transparent and brave enough to inform all Cambodians and Cambodian army at front line about these issues? Why don't they include Koh Tral (Koh Tral size is bigger than the whole Phom Phen and bigger than Singapore [Note: Singapore's present land size is 704 km2 (271.8 sq mi)]) with heap of great natural resources, in the Cambodian education system?

Look at Hun Sen's families, relatives and friends- they are billionaires, millionaires. Where did they get the money from when we all just got out of war with empty hands [in 1979]? Hun Sen always say in his speeches that Cambodia had just risen up from the ashes of war, just got up from Year Zero with empty hands and how come they are billionaires, millionaires but 90% of innocent Cambodian people are so poor and struggling with their livelihood every day?

Smart Khmer girl Ms. Rattana Keo, I like it when you repeat. It is very important. I miss my biggest island, Koh Tral, in Cambodia sea. It is illegal for Vietnamese to occupy the island of Koh Tral. I remember when I was in Toul Tom Poul High School in Phnom Penh, I studied geography and world map.

Now, I am shocked to see the Google map, Google Earth and Wikipedia, Vietnam renamed Koh Tral to be Phu Quoc (that sounds like Chinese tonal). All Khmer people will bring this issue to the International court and claim that Vietnam illegally occupied after 1979 and allowed illegal Vietnamese people to settle there without permission from Cambodia. That is similar the situation about many illegal Vietnamese people living and occupying in Cambodia. They broke the law.

Also, Hun Sen broke the peace agreement in 1990 in Paris.

Pol Pot was put to sleep by his own will left for the crumbling DK leadership at the curse of Sihanouk kow tow to Hanoi. His close aid,Tep Khunnal, who is presently the chief of Malaii district had known all along and about the plot to send off Pol Pot to his death in sleep.
Son Sen was an arch rival to Ta Mok,Pol Pot's favorite and was put to death with the entire family at the conspiracy and collaboration of Comrade So Hoa aka Kim Tran aka Ieng Sary who stole millions from China cash donation to DK clique.
Khieu Samphan was not the dog that ate rice.Comrade Nuon Chea might have been implicated by his underlings but still he will die as a poor man with questionable conscience as opposed to Ieng Sary and his family who will die with full stomach and plenty left over for his children who still rule the remainer of the dormant DK leadership based in Pailin and along NW frontier. If people had seen Sary houses with modern toilets and kitchen during his struggle against Yuon before 1996, they would spit on Sihanouk face and grave for being so gullible and let Sary got away with hidden wealth.

Sihanouk is the most culpable man who had both hands on Khmers pulse since 1954. He is the one who caused the country collapse and tragedy.
Amazingly all fingers pointed wrongly at the sleeping dogs rather than the chief of dogs for his crimes against humanity and Cambodians since March 1970.

Shame on half hearted and expensive justice of ECCC!!!

My beloved 9:59PM!

I totally agree with ya about SihanoukVarman's part.

He is historically supposed to be the most highly respectable, admirable and lovable as G. Worthington, a father of American, if he weren't selfishly, arrogantly, and unconscientiously hungried for the ultimately controling power. However, only he is a Mighty father of all Khmer's kings and Constitution. In short, I think therefore I undoubtedly believe that he is not human being, 'cause he obviously doesn't have conscience!

Cambodian genocide by Pol Pot alone?

Between 1975-1979 there were two big difference group running Cambodia under the name of Democratic Kampuchea or better known as DK for short or Khmer Rouge:

1. Groupe 1 led by Pol Pot and his Paris students group like Pol Pot himself , Ieng Sary, Son Senn etc ... .

2 Group 2 led by Khmer Viet Minh such as Kea Meas , So Phin, Ros Yem , Heng Samrin , Chea Sim .

Before and After Sihanouk 's regime was toppled down especially 1973 US B 52 boomed inside Cambodia for 200 dasy and nights killed and caused tragedy and Khmer not less than a million .

You can blame Pot Pot or if you prefer to look deeper into our Khmer real history you will see , how and why late Ho Chi Minh formed Khmer Yuon Viet Minh, Yuon Viet Minh form Khmer Viet Minh and those Yuon Viet Minh finghting French soldiers between 1946-1954 till Geneva Peace Agreement and after 1954 Geneva Peace Agreement those Yuon Viet Minh stilled exist in Cambodia and those Yuon and Khmer Viet Minh became Khmer Rom Dos in after Sihanouk down in 1970s and those Khmer Rom Dos and Khmer Viet Minh became some of powerfull cadres with Khmer Rouge group led by Pol Pot ( a group of students form Paris ) and some of Khmer Viet Minh and Khmer Rouge become CPP running Cambodia up to these days.

As Le Monde and many other foreigner said in late 2010 before Le Monde resign from ECCC that Khmer Rouge Trial is complicated in other word the real killers of 2 millions Khmer lives between 1975-1979 are still at large and the real justice that we Khmer ordinary people have been waiting for will not happen under Hun Sen regime.
