Cambodian government officials, representatives of foreign development partners and civil society met here on Wednesday to revise the development progress under the foreign aid pledged by those donor countries and to hear Cambodia' s needs for 2011.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 18th meeting of the Government-Development Partner Coordination Committee on Wednesday, Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Keat Chhon, minister of finance, said that most of the activities for 2010's social and economic development have been implemented and achieved the goals despite some challenges in resource constraints.
"Cambodia is on the right track to develop its economy, and ie expected to see growth of more than six percent in 2011 with almost all sectors," (sic!) he said.
The World Bank Country Manager, Qimiao Fan, said, "Development partners are pleased to note that the majority of the Technical Working Groups are on track to achieve their Joint Monitoring Indicator (JMI) targets and the overall good performance of the JMIs."
Cambodia has the potential to maintain sustainable, long-term growth at 7 to 8 percent a year and the government is hopeful to achieve inclusive and sustainable growth by following its comparative advantages, he said.
He added that the development partners believed that it is in Cambodia's best interests to establish national policies.
Donors pledged 1.1 billion U.S. dollars in 2010 for Cambodia's social and economic development, it is unknown how much the aid pledge will be this year from those donors to Cambodia.
The government has sought financial support from donors to ensure sustainable financing and effective implementation of the National Social protection Strategy for the Poor and Vulnerable ( 2011-2015), which passed by the government last month.

Most Cambodian that involve in politic as politicians in Cambodia because they are try to get better position in government and plus better chance of corruption to gain millions of US dollars. That is the only one purpose of most politicians in Cambodia.
They don't care about The Cambodian people, The Khmer Nation as much as they care about their luxurious cars, big modern villas, millions $US deposited in the banks, Sex with teenagers.
If they just put their mind to build Cambodia. The Cambodia will be like Singapore right now or even better Country and Nation.
Innocent Cambodian people die to serve politic but the politicians are the only group get happiness at the end. Is it true through Cambodia history?
Examples:
Prince Norodom Ranariddh and Funcinpec Party, from 1979 to 1993, how many Khmer lives were dying or lost their limbs because of they believe in Dr. Prince Norodom Ranariddh and his Funcinpec Party. They were carry guns, bombs to fight with Vietnam. They don’t even have salary or proper foods. They were fighting because they believe they would have better chance to have better future as they promised them during they were using them as tool to gain power in serve their politic goal.
As they won the election 1993, Funcinpec Party and the party leaders slowly forget them and their suffering in severing Ranariddh and Funcinpec politics goal and purposes. They (disable veterans of war) lived like animals bag people for money on the street but the majority of top Funcinpec Party are living in Luxury lifestyle practice their European lifestyle and their Royal lifestyle. The disable veterans that were serve them before can’t even meet them ask for their charity because they simply have forgotten and order their bodyguard push them away like animals.
1997 Thousand of Khmer lives again were dying for serving Ranariddh and Funcinpec Party leaders but they have been simply forgotten by Dr. Ranariddh and Funcinpec Party again and again. They were dying for the sake of serving politic lead by the politicians as mention above.
So the question is “Are you Khmer people willing to die for they can be rich and famous and you be forgotten?”
shut up, ok! you don't understand international diplomacy. of course, there are more to cambodia than you and i, ok! wake up already, don't be so ignorant, ok!
It is ignorant to think that international donors are interested in Cambodia's corruption. They want only a stable (without war or protests) environment in which to do business. Business that includes 'buying' urban and rural land for 'development'. A corrupt and abusive government that presides over a pacified population is GREAT for international donors. Democracy is just the polite name for capitalist exploitation.
