Maundy Thursday

Maundy Thursday is observed during Holy Week on the Thursday before Easter. Also referred to as "Holy Thursday" or "Great Thursday" in some Christian denominations, Maundy Thursday commemorates the Last Supper when Jesus shared the Passover meal with his disciples on the night before he was crucified. In contrast to joyful Easter celebrations when Christians worship their resurrected Savior, Maundy Thursday services are typically more solemn occasions, marked by the shadow of Jesus' betrayal.

While different denominations observe Maundy Thursday in their own distinct ways, two important biblical events are the primary focus of Maundy Thursday solemnizations:

Before the Passover meal, Jesus washed the feet of his disciples. By performing this lowly act of service, the Bible says in John 13:1 that Jesus "showed them the full extent of his love." By his example, Jesus demonstrated how Christians are to love one another through humble service. For this reason, many churches practice foot-washing ceremonies as a part of their Maundy Thursday services.

During the Passover meal, Jesus took bread and wine and asked his Father to bless it. He broke the bread into pieces, giving it to his disciples and said, "This is my body, given for you. Do this in remembrance of me." Then he took the cup of wine, shared it with his disciples and said, "This wine is the token of God's new covenant to save you--an agreement sealed with the blood I will pour out for you." These events recorded in Luke 22:19-20 describe the Last Supper and form the biblical basis for the practice of Communion. For this reason, many churches hold special Communion services as a part of their Maundy Thursday celebrations. Likewise, many congregations observe a traditional Passover Seder meal.

What Does "Maundy" Mean?

Derived from the Latin word mandatum, meaning "commandment," Maundy refers to the commands Jesus gave his disciples at the Last Supper: to love with humility by serving one another and to remember his sacrifice.

Passover is be celebrate on 15th of the lunar calendar of this month, not on Good Friday as the Catholic Church had mandated. This means the 15th of Nisan (Hebrew calendar) could fall on any day of the month of April. On this year it was on Monday evening, 18. By this Saturday, Christ would have risen from the dead according to Scripture.

Good Friday is no good! It is not in synch with the calendar of God.

Passover is God's story of our redemption by sacrificing his own Son on our behalf to deliver us from bondage of slavery from sin and death. It is only by the blood of Yeshua the Messiah is man able to be redeem back to our Creator, God. Without the blood there is no forgiveness of sins. This was why Yeshua was sent from heaven to earth for the purpose of redeeming man back to God, the Father.

Since Jesus came from the Father, who is in heaven; therefore he knows the way to the eternal abode. This was why only Yeshua able to say to every man that wants eternal life to know that he is: "I am the way, truth, and the Life. No man can come to the Father except through me."

Hi there,
Thank you so so much for letting us know about Jesus' event before his crucification.
If everyone can be nice to each other(eg. Jesus washes his disciples' feet without making the difference between rich and poor or high/low classes)then a poor will have something to eat and have a happiness life.
Thank you KI for posting this passage.

Eternal life is a gift of God, but man wants to pay his way to eternal damnation (hell).

Don't complain how the world is because: "The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God."

Cambodia have forgotten the True Creator, God. Sure sounded like hell that went on in that country of late.

Who forgeteth, God or the Cambodian people?

8:47 PM,

It will never happen as you are saying in your comment. Hun Sen will be arrested by the UN and International Communities and powerful countries in the world.

Also, Communist Vietnamese masters Triet and Dung in Hanoi will face the massive pressures from European countries, China, the U.S., Brazil, Canada, Japan, S. Korea, German, Noway, and other powerful countries along with the UN and International Community leaders and representatives.
