Actually this event is NOT considering as a Khmer's ceremony. Ki Media staff member very supidity. I do not reconigze this ceremony. It's for foreigners,it is not for Cambodian to celebrate this event. In Cambodia must not take time off to celebrate this ceremony, it's not Khmer tradition.

@6:28PM, every day should be mother's day no matter where you at. love your mom always! yes, even if you are khmer in cambodia. after all, every day for a woman with children is a ‘mother’s day. so, please go tell your mom that you love her and thanks her for everything of your existance. not just today, but everyday! be a good child.... :-)

Not about ceremony, it about your mother, if you want to show your kindness to your mother it up to you eventhough in the West they do not take time off to celebrate mother day they do at their own spare times.

If you're alone do not want to do it up to you but you can not insult people who wnat to do it, you can do at Khmer new year or whatever you like it, it up to you there no drama.

7:07 pm,

Thanks for telling 6:28 about the mother's day. Mother's day only speak one language (love for her children unconditionally) and one culture (humaninity culture - the love from mother is infinite). Don't be ashame to tell your mother that you love her.

6:28 Give your mother a flower for a change...and see how she will respond to you. Unless your mother passed a way during the KR, than just give the flower to the woman you love like your mother...you will see her many love return. Be part of humanity.

Hi 9:23 PM

Why do you insult and curse your own mother who gave birth to you in KI? Not even that you look down on yourself, that you have no intelligence at all. Give yourself some credits.

Just because you chose to dis-believe the existence of GOD does not mean all atheists do not have mothers. Even a bastard child still has his or her parents.

You are not just against the supreme being but against Science as well.

What a dumbfool 6:28 PM is. I think you should learn to honor your mother in accordance with this new land's celebration. You must be born from one
of the Khmer Rouge's soul, dude, as you condemn mother's day.

Tell that to a true atheist who defy that there is no God he would have been born without a mother. That's what he thinks, but he's a fool & obstinate.

I was at 6:28PM

To those who got offend on me regarding the mother's day event, I didn’t mean to stop you from recognizing this particular event that ever never exist previously in Cambodia. Obviously, you have freedom to celebrate this event, but I just said in Khmer way of life, we do respect to the parents, mother and father, and we didn’t use to this event before since all Khmers who live abroad they carry their attitude, philosophy, custom and tradition of their cultures and even thought you brought to Khmer in Cambodia to do the same as you are in abroad. I personally hate these events but I don’t hate my parents, I respect to my mother and father more then you respect to this mother day. You copied the mother day from abroad and you want Cambodian to celebrate this tradition, it’s not thing wrong but I think it does not look worthy for my country to carry their traditions. Who care? You do it yourself, you make that way. In Cambodia now has lot of holidays, children missed school a lot because of ‘Holiday’ such as ‘Mother's Day’ and Charismas and other foreign holidays. I am so sick to see and hear this grape all years round. I never heard it before.

Many thank to 11:05AM,
Cambodia never celebrated MOTHER'S DAY in Cambodia, but at home, kids loved and respected their mother.
They gave food to her;they took shower for her on Cambodian New Year.
Children showed their respects to
their mothers twice a year.

6:44,

I can hear you, but can you be open mind a little bit. Soon enough when people are too busy like Khmer live in the Western world, we don't have much time with our parents. Thus, we adapt with the culture and the way of living here in the OECD countries. Where at least one day, it gives us to fully recognize our mother that had been give us so much! (but this does not mean that we don't respect our parents the other 364 days - we still do), but as you Know, Khmer culture don't verablize their love or say I love you to our parents(it is rather so call western). Give flowers to our mother on this mother's day is better than just say it. We express our love to our mother with something tangible! This is just the way how people in OECD countries do it. But I don't know how KHmer people in Cambodia do it. Yes, I agreed with you that we should respect our parents everyday, but when you don't have time, one day is worth more to a mother that her children still thinking about her! It is rather from one human affection to another human being!

i think mother should adopt mother's day and father's day as well in our country cambodia, really! khmer people always respect their parents all along, however, there wasn't any day to commemorate the parents like they have in america, called mother's day and father's day, etc... wake up, cambodia. honor our parents, dead or alive, really! god bless all.
