talks a lot.
*The heart of a fool is in his

If Ly Diep wishes to make an opinion, why do you care if he looks like a fool? Isn't that his job and concern? I think you're being way too concern for some else then yourself.

I appeal to KI not to condone or post such message as from Proh Sra-Em that discourages dissenting or unpopular views, KI after all is operating under understanding of pluristic views, democracy, and freedom of speech. Telling someone to shut up because you disagree with them just reminds me too much of Hun Sen telling Khmer patriots to get a coffin because they talk about Kampuchea Krom, or to accusing the sufferers of closing their eyes when they are unable to see his "development".

The way I see-
Ly diep just say for say not having real purpose.
for example, if Sam Rainsy is not good who is good for Cambodia.
If Ly diep is not a fool he must be able to answer this simple question and don't say Lon Nol is good because today we do not need Lon Nol.

Lork Ly Diep criticized SRS for hopping on the plane for Paris after removing the illegal border posts with Youn and left those who jointed him to go to jail by them self. He went on to say that SRS should stay in Cambodia and go to jail like Kem Sokha and Mom Somando.

But Louk Ly Diep forgot to mention that SRS' action is very similar what Louk Ly Diep did before April, 1975.

...Those 1.7 who were killed by Khmer rouge were stupid enough to joint his gung-Ho republican to deposed SHN, while Louk LY Diep jumped on ship and took off for Thai Land. Why didn't he stay to fight with Khmer Rouge like Rambo?
besides, those who were sent to jail by Hun Sen are free now and those 1.7 people are dead for ever and that where the similarity stops.

Mr. SRS goes to Cambodia, not sitting in his air condition office and criticized others. He had grenades thrown at him. He went to remove the illegal border posts, some thing that even strong man Hun Sen is afraid to do. If every Cambodians are brave like Mr. SRS, Cambodia will be doing OK.

Instead of blaming Mr. SRS and those villagers, Louk Ly Diep should blame Hun Sen and his kangaroo court. When a girl got raped, why do you blame girl, not the rapist? the scenario as mr. SRS and those villagers. They just wanted to protect Khmer land. And MR> SRS did not do it for his own benefit, but for all Khmer including CPP's children. Hun Sen and Viet should be criticized not Mr. SRS.

7:17am, what's wrong with that?

As long as you are qualified.

Chaing Kai Chiak's wife played very

important role for his regime, she

was a no none sense lady.

Look at Hun Sen' s wife, do you think she qualified for any thing?

She is just an idiot, ignorant woman.

Ly Diep as human being has every right to freedom of expression be it opinions or facts as he sees fit. In the modern world, politicians are not immuned from criticism and if politicians don't like criticism don't be politicians.

I would disagree with Ly Diep's alledge assessment on the SRP tactic to exile.

If Mr. Ly Diep truly believes that Sam Rainsy would have done a better job by staying in jail, he probably has not examine and given in depth assessment to all factors and weigh out the cost and benefits of the strategy.

What Mr. Hun Sen's court sentenced Mr. Sam Rainsy to isn't 1 year in jail term, but 18 years! Which means, being a popular hero that I think Mr. Diep hopes Sam Rainsy can achieve from his jail cell, would be pointless, to the SRP or Mr. Sam Rainsy's political career.

For smaller matters on principles, but of no less importance, such as human rights and internal domestic politics, that strategy may work better and gain more popularity and as well as be useful since penalties are less severe and Sam Rainsy will still be able to participate in politic.

However, Sam Rainsy is now dealing with an international case, being jailed and silence would have effectively shut down this issue and localized it to Cambodia, but Sam Rainsy's action have now in some way brought international scrutiny and pressure to Vietnam.

It will be more conscious and careful in these border demarcation knowing that international maps legal experts outside of Hanoi can be seeked out as Sam Rainsy had.

Success is the outcome for the whole, which I think, given the severity of the punishment and the international dimension of this problem, will only have an overall greater benefit if Sam Rainsy took his case outside of the Cambodian court.

To not mention, this arguement that "Sam Rainsy is brave but leaves his supporter to suffer" is also an insult to the courage and patriotism of those Khmer who act willingly and knowing of the consequences of an unjust regime.

My opinion is that Mr. Ly Diep's stance (including Khem Veasna who constantly scold Sam Rainsy for leading from abroad) basically said that Cambodian citizens are incapable of understanding their basic rights, civic responsibilities and freedoms.

Keo Cham said...

Yes, basically, those opinion deny Cambodian citizens the right to decide and follow their own consciousness as it belittles their actions as nothing less and merely an act of compliance for Rainsy rather than an act of disobedience and frustration against their own government.

The term in Khmer would be, "Mol Ngiey", or in English, to "Look Pass". Indeed, many Khmer overseas have become confident in their own understanding and feeling of superior appreciations of the values of freedom and dissent, but yet they fail to understand when other Khmers in Cambodia choose to act and espouse these principles with their lives and actions - perhaps only American Cambodians can truly know what it means to "act" in civil disobedience against authority or to "stand up" for themselves.

Can people stop reading Li Dick's text and fighting with Li Dick ?

I don't read his paper but I don't want to see people wsate their time arguing with Dick.
