In a statement issued earlier, the office of the Co-Investigating Judges of the Khmer Rouge Tribunal indicated that the departure attempts by a number of its office’s employees were in fact resignations in protest over the CIJs’ decision to close investigations in Case 003.

The CIJs welcome the departure of all staff members who ignore the sole responsibility of the CIJs in this issue. The CIJs claimed that they are able to deal with Cases 003 and 004 in a competent and timely manner.

The statement was issued after a number of employees at the CIJ office turned in their resignations, claiming that they are no pleased with the CJIs’ work in Cases 003/004.
