Phnom Penh – Sor Sovan, Khieu Samphan’s defense lawyer, declared that Khieu Samphan is the only KR leader charged who agreed to sit (in the dock) and cooperate with the KR leaders’ hearing during the 4 days.
He added: “My client wants to cooperate to seek the truth about who else (is responsible) for the Democratic Kampuchea regime?”
The other 3 former KR leaders, Nuon Chea, Ieng Sary and Ieng Thirith all left the hearing claiming health problem.

I remember from reading back in mid-90's, Khieu Samphan had made a state, "When the water is clear, we will all see the fish swimming around."
If Khieu Samphan has his way, he would willing to tell the world what did/didn't happen back in his time.
Khieu Samphan would definitely tell what had happened during those years.

I also heard and still remember Khieu Samphan says "When the water is clear, we will all see the fish swimming around.".
On the first day we all have seen with our own eyes that only Khieu Samphan has cooperate this clear sign telling us that Khieu Samphan wants to says as musch as this politcal show trial convict him and other 3 KR leaders for lives imprision.
No one ( all of the four ) will convict lives sentences.
Some see Khieu Samphan as an evil but I and elderly Cambodian whom I talked to see Khieu Sam since what he done since he came back from study in Paris in 1959-2007 ( till he was arrested in late 2997 ) that Khieu Samphan , Hu Nim , Hou Youn are good men among ohter Khmer people.

i believe the real killers was noun chea, the court must examin this man background and his education level. as for the other 3, they happened to affiliate with the wrong group of people. khiev samphan was a welll-known man since in the 1960s. from what i heard, he was once a professor who chose to ride a bicycle to school, and this is way back in the 1960s. as for noun chea, ieng sary, ieng thirith, including the late pol pot, people never even heard of them before until they showed up as the crazy KR leaders. still, i think all of them are responsible for what happened in cambodia during their watch. as for sihanouk, he's not so bad, although people have no doubt he was revengeful, and mad because lon nol people toppled him from power, so he sided with the KR, not aware that the KR were the the real ignorant one who destroyed and killed millions of khmer people and citizens, etc. anyway, i'm no khmer history expert, however, i can understand what's going on by reading and research on my own and so forth.
Khieu Samphan 's cooperation on the first day with this political show trial means Khieu Samphan really wants to talks becasue he knows very well that this is his last chance that his voice will be heard to Khmer public even it will not heard 100 % and before Khieu Samphan face life immprision.

They all will face lives sentences because this ECCC has been set up by yuon Hanoi known as CPP.
after the fall of phnom penh, saloth sar summoned his men to meet in phnom penh. he addressed his men with conviction to stay on course. His policy was to abolish monetary and market systems, etc.
Hu Nim had his chance to address the crowd. He was strongly voiced against the policy. After the meeting, he was mysteriously disappeared.

cambodia has the rights to blame to some degree the outside influences; however, the one that carry out the day to day task were these top leadership which we know failed miserably, ending in the death of millions of khmer people and citizens and took cambodia back to that so-called year zero. these KR leaders failed, that's the fact! and they were dumb and stupid enough to take order from outsiders? that's their own fault! smart, clever leaders do not do that! smart, clever leaders would have promote cambodia and khmer way, etc, not killing and suppressing their own people, really! these KR leaders were insane, perhaps arrogant as well and blinded with their own ambition. i mean these KR leaders were supposed to be educated, and were considered intellectual themselves, however, they committed the worst crime against humanity and genocide, the worst kind of the history of cambodia and the world as well. use to law to deal with them and don't let them get away; it's their own fault for carry on the day to day task of atrocity and brutality in cambodia during their reign of terror, you know! khmer people cry out for justice!

As my commnet of 1:00 PM after I talked to many elderly Cambodians both in the city and especially in the coutry side minority see Khieu Samphan as an evil but majority see Khieu Samphan as a very good man.
As 1:12 PM he is not Khmer expert but he understand what going on by reading and research.
So the more research and the more reading from neutral books and sources are partly important.
Back to Khiue Samphan after his cambe from Paris in 1959 some of what he did and happened to his family as fellow:
1. To and from work from Professor later on he became minister in sihanouk reigime in 1960s he still rode a bycicle to and from work.
2. Every single of his salary he gave to his widow mohter .
3. Khieu Samphan mohter sell Khmer traditional burned banana called Chek Ang on the street.
4. While Khieu Samphan 's mother sell Chek Ang on the street Khieu Samphan became minster of commerce and a man tries to bribe him with a lot of money for many time but that bribe failed .
Khieu Samphan keep refusing the bribe but the bribe kept coming in form of a big gift bag , Khieu Samphan says at dinner table that if he ( Khieu Samphan except the bribe he must work for the owner of the bribe which ah Kor the poor.
5. Khieu Samphan has no money in both local bank and oversea bank.
As far as I know Khieu Samphan, Hu Mim and Hou Youn hate corruption to their bone.
The reasons I bring this up becasue whoever do good thing must given moral support and try to see the real dnager of yuon Hani who has been behind all of these Khmer killing since 1940-2011.
what kind of law are you going to convict them? The ECCC could not even give justice to the people with the case - Kaing Guek Eav!
How about the political interference from Hun Sen, Youn?
The ECCC has hard evidences and I don't refute the facts. This case is not about an "eye for an eye" case. If it was, the ECCC would not here anymore. If the world would learn and Khmer would benefit from this case, this case has to be freed from political pressure and interference, and allow the freedom for these men to share with us what had happened.
Killing these men would be very easy, but what would we khmer know about the atrocity during that year zero?
Did you know that Hanoi was the first party to set up the Tuol Sleng center and informed the world that we khmer had killed each other?
Dear 1:58 PM let me share with you abut what law they are going to convict the four Khmer Rouge.
But pleas have a quick look at this:
Yuon Hanoi formed CPP, CPP formed ECCC so yuon Hanoi have strong influence over ECCC.

My answer is:
Yuon Hanoi law is going to convict these four Khmer Ruoge because they dare to refuse to cooperate with yuon Hanoi to put Cambodia and Lao into Indochina Fedeation.
I have talked to many, many elderly Cambodians in Cambodia and I can summerize as follow:
1. Minority see Khieu Samphan as an evil.
2. Majority see Khieu Samphan Hu Nim and Hou Youn are very good men among other Khmer peole.
So million of Khmer so far have not express positive and negative about this yuon ECCC for various reasons such as poor living condition .
