Tonlesap Airlines will launch direct flights for a Xiamen to Angor Wat route from July 19, 2011, as it aims to meet demand for travel to the World Heritage Site in Cambodia, reports Xiamen Economic Daily.

The 3-hour flight is scheduled to take off for every 5 days and it is the first direct flight from China's Fujian province to the Indo-China Peninsula, said the Cambodian national carrier.

Passengers from Xiamen will not have to transfer flights in Guangzhou or Hong Kong after the launch of the new flights, the carrier said.

The new service was expected to meet the demand for travel to Angor Wat and other sites in Southeastern Asia countries.

"The reason for us to charter the flight for one year and open the 5-day travel package to Angor Wat for RMB3,980 (USD614) is to bring convenience to travelers from Xiamen and neighbouring cities,” said Mr. Ma Zhiqiang, general manager of Xiamen Chunhui International Travel Services Co., Ltd.
