Chea Sim, the president of the ruling Cambodian People’s Party and the head of the Senate, warned against more cases going forward at the UN-backed Khmer Rouge tribunal on Wednesday, echoing warnings of the prime minister that have sparked concern of political interference at the court.
The tribunal is prepared to try four leaders of the regime for atrocity crimes later this year, but the court still has two more controversial cases on its docket that would require further indictments, which Prime Minister Hun Sen opposes.
Speaking at a party congress on Wednesday, Chea Sim said the upcoming trial of Nuon Chea, Khieu Samphan, Ieng Sary and Ieng Thirith should be enough “to find justice” and “ensure peace and national reconciliation.”
The tribunal had an initial hearing for the four jailed leaders in June, with a full trial expected later this year.
However, the court’s investigative judges have come under criticism for hastily concluding a third case in April, prompting an appeal from the international prosecutor. Their investigation into a fourth case has not yet been concluded.
Members of the CPP, meanwhile, have ignored a court summons for testimony from the former international investigative judge.

i think it is fair to say enough is enough because remember when cambodia was under the KR rule, everybody was trapped and on the same boat together, meaning all suffered one way or another. so, for reconciliation and peace sake and moving on sake, and for cambodia's sake, development sake, etc, etc, we should let the court decide what is best for cambodia. it is not up to anybody outside of the court to say anything, whether the opposition or what have you. it is the court in charge that determines what's best for cambodia in regards to this historic tribunal, you know!
show the court some respect, really!
Just come clean!
Honesty is the best policy!
Is there really any national reconcilliation in Cambodia up till now?
I agree, enough is enough, we all have suffered one way or another. The court process has done a good job so far, the only thing is, it took almost thirty years to bring these people to trial and it costs UN multi-million of dollars only to know that they are already too old to serve for their crime. Now, we used these money on building bridge, roads, housing etc would much better than to spend on these evil people and in the end God will judge them anyway. So, let focus on what else need to be done for our nation and country by creating a law to protect every equally as if they are our children...

correction: now if we use these money...
