When people refused to believe in the TRUTH, God will give them over to believe in the LIE. This is the fruit of ones own doing and not God at all, but God gets the blame.
Every thought is conceived in the heart, good & evil. In the sight of God, all good deeds are as filthy rags apart from trusting in him first. If doing good is the only hope to change the world, then the world should have been changed by now.
The Bible is God's instruction to mankind on how to live right in his sight that will bring his blessings and not curses, because the heart of man is deceitful one need the right steps to approach him in his way not man's ways, the Bible will show the way to him.

You need to do more work not just through preaching which tends to be useless, but by concrete actions to help fellow human beings.
There are as much evil in this planet now as there were at the time before Jesus so you need to work harder in term of actions or forget it, preaching won't work as the evil of this world has not come down in number and intensity.
