Cambodia’s trade with Malaysia grows sharply

Cambodia’s trade with Malaysia grows sharply in 1st 4 months of Y 2011

The bi-lateral trade between Cambodia and Malaysia increased by 75% in the 1st 4 months of this year, compared to the same period last year, said a senior commerce official Wednesday.

From January to April this year, the two countries total trade volume amounted to US$100.6M, + 75% from US$57.5M in the corresponding period last year, Pan Sorasak, secretary of state for the Ministry of Commerce, said during opening the 2nd Malaysia Solo Fair 2011 in Phnom Penh.

Cambodia’s exports to Malaysia worth US$18.6M, increased nearly five folds from US$3.2M, and Cambodia’s imports from Malaysia reached US$82M, up 51% from US$54.4M.


Cambodia’s main imports from Malaysia were textile and clothing, processed food, chemical products, cosmetic products, manufactures of metal, machinery, beverage, tobacco and electronic products, while Cambodia’s exports to Malaysia were crude rubber, textile and clothing, manufacture of metal, and palm oil.

Sorasak attributed the increase to a longstanding and healthy bilateral relationship between Cambodia and Malaysia under the ASEAN spirit.

“I believe that as the same ASEAN members, Cambodia and Malaysia will continue to pursue active trades by utilizing ASEAN Free Trade Agreement (AFTA) as tools for trade developments, and Cambodia expects to see stronger growth of trade with Malaysia this year,” he said.

In Y 2010, the bi-lateral trade between Cambodia and Malaysia worth US$229.7M.

Hun Sen and CPP are working very hard to convert Cambodia to one of Vietnam province in the near future.

100 years of lands ownership to Vietnam. Vietnam has another 100 years to export their people into Cambodia to make Cambodia automaticly Vietnam province.

Imagine in Cambodia, the population of import Viet people 60% in the Cambodian total population! Imagine that! What will happen to the Kingdom of wonder ?
