ICJ Ruling: A Shameful Defeat For The Hun Sen Government

18 July 2011

ICJ RULING: A SHAMEFUL DEFEAT FOR THE HUN SEN GOVERNMENT

As elected representatives of the Cambodian people, we are deeply disappointed with today’s ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in The Hague ordering both Cambodia and Thailand to withdraw their troops from a large area surrounding Preah Vihear temple. This Khmer temple indisputably stands on Khmer territory and is placed under Cambodia’s sovereignty according to a judgment by the same ICJ in 1962.

Following three years of aggression by Thailand and resulting violation of Cambodia’s territory, today’s inconsistent and shocking decision by the ICJ unacceptably put the aggressor and the victim on the same footing.

This ICJ ruling represents a shameful defeat for the Hun Sen government whose incompetence is blatant when it comes to the defense of Cambodia’s territorial integrity on both our western and eastern borders.

We renew our call for the Hun Sen government to resign because of its inability to effectively defend Cambodia’s territorial integrity in the face of foreign aggressions.

The only effective way to defend Cambodia against any foreign aggression is through peaceful means, notably by calling for the implementation of the 1991 Paris Agreements on Cambodia, as opposition leader Sam Rainsy told Prime Minister Hun Sen to do, in his 11 February 2011 open letter listing measures and initiatives that Cambodia should take for her defense against Thailand’s aggression.

I am not a fan of Hun San regime but whoever wrote this article is either retarded or half dead. As an attack dog, you should know when to attack.

You are good at writing English but your idea is distinctly mediocre.

People this is the ICJ's tactic to see how the Thais react.....wait to see the interpretation phase and then we decide what's next. I don't like this ruling as well. As I said earlier we cannot depend much on the International Bodies to come to our aid....we have to build our military and prepare for a long struggle with the Siam no matter how long it will take. Give them headache as much as they give us. Stop recognizing the frontiers with them....just draw our own map and send our soldiers to occupy it...it's our land anyway....this is how things work in our region....but first build our muscles......

What an opportunist! What the hell did these SRP members of parliament drink? If the order said, unilaterally, Cambodia had to withdraw troops, then yes, it was a defeat, but the siamese also had to pull their troops. This is to make the decision more practical and fair.

The siamese could still be in their trenches next to the temple according to the Paris Peace Accord, as long as they stay in their claimed territory. The bottom line here is to get an interpretation on what the court meant when it decided that the temple belong to Cambodia and is in the vicinity of the sovereign territory of Cambodia.

I support your cause for democracy and all, but to deal a low blow to the government and country in a very critical issue like this does not make anyone look patriotic, except being foolish and selfish.

Opposition group like SRP should take the advisory of old Khmer saying,"ស្ងៀមជាជាងស្រដីស៊ីចេកខ្ចីជាជាងមាត់ទំនេរ"

SRP is too desperate in attacking opponent without evaluate the factors on this case.

The ruling is not what we want, but it is a provisional measure to protect the temple and it will put more presssure on Thailand to widraw their troupes and accept the rule of ASEAN and UN.

The stupid ding bat bitch who voted against Cambodia in all counts was Judge Joan E. Donoghue who joined the icj panel in September 2010...she either got bribed by the Thai government or got laid by a Thai lady boi in Pattaya to have such an arrogant biased view regardless of the facts.

Koh Tral Island must not be forgotten

By Ms. Rattana Keo

Why do Koh Tral Island, known in Vietnam as Phu Quoc, a sea and land area covering proximately over 30,000 km2 [Note: the actual land size of Koh Tral itself is 574 square kilometres (222 sq miles)] have been lost to Vietnam by whose treaty? Why don’t Cambodia government be transparent and explain to Cambodia army at front line and the whole nation about this? Why don't they include this into education system? Why?

Cambodian armies are fighting at front line for 4.6 km2 on the Thai border and what's about over 30,000km2 of Cambodia to Vietnam. Nobody dare to talk about it! Why? Cambodian armies you are decide the fate of your nation, Cambodian army as well as Cambodian people must rethink about this again and again. Is it fair?

Koh Tral Island, the sea and land area of over 30,000 square kilometres have been lost to Vietnam by the 1979 to 1985 treaties. The Cambodian army at front line as well as all Cambodian people must rethink again about these issues. Are Cambodian army fighting to protect the Cambodia Nation or protecting a very small group that own big lands, big properties or only protecting a small group but disguising as protecting the Khmer nation?

The Cambodian army at front lines suffer under rain, wind, bullets, bombs, lack of foods, lack of nutrition and their families have no health care assistance, no securities after they died but a very small group eat well, sleep well, sleep in first class hotel with air conditioning system with message from young girls, have first class medical care from oversea medical treatments, they are billionaires, millionaires who sell out the country to be rich and make the Cambodian people suffer everyday.

Who signed the treaty 1979-1985 that resulted in the loss over 30,000 km2 of Cambodia??? Why they are not being transparent and brave enough to inform all Cambodians and Cambodian army at front line about these issues? Why don't they include Koh Tral (Koh Tral size is bigger than the whole Phom Phen and bigger than Singapore [Note: Singapore's present land size is 704 km2 (271.8 sq mi)]) with heap of great natural resources, in the Cambodian education system?

Look at Hun Sen's families, relatives and friends- they are billionaires, millionaires. Where did they get the money from when we all just got out of war with empty hands [in 1979]? Hun Sen always say in his speeches that Cambodia had just risen up from the ashes of war, just got up from Year Zero with empty hands and how come they are billionaires, millionaires but 90% of innocent Cambodian people are so poor and struggling with their livelihood every day?

If the current Cambodian Government is really Sovereign and totally Independent, it should have no problem with calling for the implementation of the 1991 Paris Peace Agreement on Cambodia to protect itself from Foreign aggressions such as Thailand and Vietnam.

The failure to call for the Implementation of the 1991 Paris Peace Agreement on Cambodia clearly demonstrates to the International Community that the current Cambodian Government is not Sovereign and Independent and that the United Nations needs to act sooner rather than later. As last resort, the United Nations needs to put Cambodia as its PROTECTORATE until there is a proper solution to safeguard Cambodia's Teritorial Integrity and Sovereignty.

SRP appears to be so desparate in trying to show that they are the real and good alternative to the Hun Sen government.

The Cambodian may not have done a good job at the eastern border, but it certainly has done a wonderful at the western border in dealing with Thailand.

The ICJ court verdict sounds fair for now as the court needs time to study the problems in more depth and there is a possibility that nothing will come out from ICJ later on, but an encouragement for the two countries to find a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

SRP statement shows a complete lack of fairness and demonstrates that the SRP will always be critical of the Hun Sen's government no matter what.

The implementation of the 1991 Paris Agreements is not going to solve this problem and Sam Rainsy, himself should know that. No country is going to put up money and use their forces to solve Cambodian problems.

If the SRP really puts Cambodia's interests before theirs then they should collaborate and support the government in its fight against the Thais and then later persuade the government to do the same on the eastern border. You can't expect your government to fight the foreigners when you wish everyday that they fall apart and die.

This illogical and selfish declaration will make some reasonable people turn away from the SRP and continue to support the CPP not because they like it, but the SRP is not a viable and good alternative.

I am not a Hun Sen's supporter but I don't see any shameful defeated for Hun Sen like SRP members of parliament said up there . Thailand sent its troops to stay at the Temple first before Hun Sen sent CRA there . And now, if Thailand withdraw it's troops, Cambodia will do the same , that's the way it used to be .

People,

Please stop deviating from the central point, the eastern border.

Look at the influx of Vietnamese into our country. The complete destruction of our natural resource, the non compliance of the 1991 Paris peace accord, the implementation of the bilateral treaties between the Master and its slave, etc....

The ICJ's decision seems fair to me. This is an initial step that would serve well as the foundation for the next step.

The greatest danger of our country is the presence of the Vietnameses who are ready to vote to legalize Cambodia practically as part of Vietnam.

I solemnly exhort to the Human right party to put Khmer's interest first by joining Sam Rainsy party, hoping that Sam Rainsy party would defeat the puppet party. Let Sam Rainsy rise to the power and if he cannot make his promise materialize, then we can select another leader. This way we can save our country from the Viet's influence.

If Kem Sokha insists on keeping his party, Khmer people will have a lose-lose situation.

Whatever we want to accomplish, just remember that in 1993, with the presence of the UN force, Vietnam was able to help its slave Hun Sen to hold on to the power. And presently, with a few million of Vietnameses inside Cambodia, if Hun Sen loses the 2013 election, mounting a war in Cambodia by Vietnam to make it looks like a civil war will be very easy. Kem Sokha must understand this issue is far more important than trying to win over Sam Rainsy. Kem Sokha is not 3 years old, he should be able to grasp this perception.

This confirmed that Sam Rainsy is so desparated, out of control and behaves like a moron. Indeed, this statement won't make all SRP members of Parliament look good in the public, but it will hurt SRP beyond repair. Only moron agreed with this stupid statement.

DMZ provisional order by ICJ is in parallel with Khmer saying,"អូសទូកកុំ
អោយល្អានចាប់ត្រីបានកុំអោយល្អក់ទឹក"

Shame on SRP ignorant parliamentarians!!!

If this statement can help them to feel good about themselves, it is understandable! They discredit themselves everyday by saying anything that cannot persuade anyone. They think that Cambodians are idiots and can believe anything they tell them. What a pity! Actually they try to copy the yellow shirts in Bangkok. But please look at the result of the last general election in Thailand. Does the 1991 Paris Peace Agreement have any jurisdiction on borderlines when Thais have their own map and repeat that they didn’t violate Cambodian sovereignty? Talking about 1991 Paris Peace Agreement, they actually helped HS in modifying the constitution on the majority in parliament. According to the 1991 Paris Peace Agreement the majority required 2/3 of the house, but SR wanted just 50% + 1 so that HS can stay in power for ever!

The Internal Court of Justice
in Hague that ordered Cambodia
and Thailand to pull their troops
out of surround Preah Vihear
temple was very good in the first
step.
Both of them should respect the
rules of the ICJ laws.

Vietnam and Thai never wanted
Cambodia lived in peace since
after the fall of Khmer empire
era.They got Khmer land piece
by piece.
Thailand wants Preah Viheaar
and 4.6 square kilometers;and
Vietnam took Koh Tral,sea water,
and now it is taking Khmer land
along Khmer-Vietnam border,or
the whole Cambodia in the next
years.
Because now Vietnamese immigrants
have 6,000,000,still flowing 2,000
families per month.
It has 20,000 troops in seven
rubber fields in seven provinces
and 10,000 secret police officers
in Pnom Penh and all small and
large cities in Cambodia.
Thailand and Vietnam will tear
Cambodia a part.

There are some truth to this writing! If Preah Vihear belong to Cambodia and under Cambodian sovereignty why Cambodia has to withdraw Cambodian military from the Preah Vihear temple?

This is to show that Preah Vihear doesn't belong to Cambodia! The Siem will find the loophole in the law to wrestle Preah Vihear back into their hand! Cambodia can kiss dirt and say good-bye to Preah Vihear temple that they claimed their great King built for them!

If AH HUN SEN refuse to enforce the Paris Agreement and Cambodia will loose the Western boundary to Thailand and the Eastern boundary to Vietnam and what become Cambodia is the country heading toward self-destruction!
