Dear Samdech Prom Keah Norodom Ranariddh,
Your Royal Highness, Cambodia needs change. Every day, the best land in the country is being taken from poor villagers and given to foreign-owned companies, disloyal politicians who hold passports from Thailand or Vietnam, or to family members of the corrupt political elite. Police are becoming brutal in defending the rich from the poor. The streets of Phnom Penh, for the first time in Cambodian history, are becoming filled with beggars and hopeless young men and women addicted to drugs. The Cambodian government sells rice to foreign countries while its own people go hungry.
To achieve success in the 2013 national elections, I humbly suggest that the Norodom Ranariddh Party (“NRP”) needs to change its political platform to respond to the needs of the Cambodian people. NRP must adopt brave new ideas to make clear to voters the differences between its goals and those of the Cambodian People’s Party. Accordingly, with deepest respect, I humbly present to you the following proposed new platform for the NRP, which follows the principles of Nation, Religion, King:
1. Nation
The NRP believes in the principle of “Cambodia for Cambodians.” The Cambodian people should enjoy all of the best things available in the blessed Cambodian nation; citizens should hold the best land and eat the best food and obtain the best products. Accordingly, the NRP does not support foreign investment in Cambodia, nor the production of export goods.
2. Religion
The NRP will work to return Buddhism to the highest position in national life, and its policies will be intended first not to harm sentient life and second to assist Cambodian citizens’ pursuit of enlightenment. Buddhist principles will become part of all aspects of public life, including law enforcement and the court system. The NRP will promote friendly relations with similar Buddhist nations, and will work with the Sangha to create a council of monks to advise the government.
3. King
The NRP will work to strengthen the King’s role in the religious and social life of Cambodia, and promote the King as a father figure to all Cambodian people and as the most dedicated protector of the Khmer people. In respect to the glorious Khmer traditions and history under the monarchy, the NRP will also work to promote the arts, both in traditional forms and via the new idea of young Khmer artists. The NRP recognizes and honors the King as a symbol of Khmer strength and pride throughout history.
In addition to the above general principles, I propose that the NRP promise to the Cambodian people that it will make the following changes in Cambodian government if it is voted into a majority of the seats in the Cambodian Senate and National Assembly:
- a. Cancel all economic land concessions, and return the land to the King’s ownership, for the free use of all Cambodian citizens. Because of widespread corruption and wrongdoing in land concessions, the companies and individuals affected by such cancellation will not be compensated financially;
- b. Cancel the property tax;
- c. Promote Buddhism in all levels of education in Cambodia, including by founding a new Khmer Buddhist university for the education of lay students; and
- d. For the welfare of the Khmer people, oppose with all the might of the Khmer nation any efforts to dam the Mekong or Tonle Sap rivers.
The ideas and policies of development have failed the Cambodian people. Foreign institutions and foreign companies have corrupted the function of the Cambodian government such that it now serves the interests of foreigners and a small number of politicians, instead of bowing down in service to the sovereign Khmer people. The time has come for Cambodia to create its own, uniquely Cambodian style of government, following the principles of Nation, Religion, King, and carried out for the benefit of all of the country’s citizens.
With profound respect and gratitude to you, I therefore submit this proposal and offer my assistance in implementing the political platform it contains. Although I had the misfortune of not being born Khmer, I love the nation and its people with all my heart, and I wish to serve them to the best of my ability. I humbly await your response.
Yours,
“Mr. Ben”
p.s. I would be most grateful if a qualified scholar could accurately translate this document into Khmer, and share it with news media in and about Cambodia.

Prince Norodom Ranarith, are not involved or decision maker.
so your opened letter, somehow, it useless., but-- it's good to hear your concerned citizen.
please let give our government a chance to do their jobs, as well as , give them the opportunity to improve our city night life...
i disagreed, that, khmer's governments has given away the lands to the foreign country.
every countries, in the world has used full forced, in order to keep laws in order.
Who else believes Samdech Norodom Ranariddh? Many armies, officers and civilians scarified their lives for him during the 80s fought against Vietnamese invasion. and in 1997 Hun Sen did coup d'état killed about 70 high ranking officers. Does Ranariddh still remember those events? He completely forget it after he joins Hun Sen. What kind of leader is he? He is a coward person. He has ever stood up for the truth.
If you want to see chum teav, chum tit, chum tuoy, chum teng, chum tang, akok sena, samdach, ach oudom and the murderer team dance, here the site http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjWT9P2qCDs&feature=related
1. Who does not know about the royal asses by now?
It has never been a matter whether they were in a position making decision or not. They had never knew how to make any decision anyway!
2. The current government has been and will be continuing to suck khmer blood until it drains, then leave the countries!
3. All khmer needs to stand up, dead or alive, once and for all!
1:03 AM, You have two eyes but you can't see. What is happening in Bangkak people? Is that eviction or under Hun Sen's development?
sounds good, however, i think cambodia in this new era also need to be competitive in the global environment if we are to be known in the world. we need to have a strong connection with the west, especially america while also embrace others like china, etc. we need to make sure we are not blinded and make the same mistake again like in the past that cost cambodia and khmer lives. it is good concept that we should embrace khmerness, however, we need to keep in mind of the world around us as well. yes, the world is big and cambodia will always be cambodia, and we have to be able to incorporate all that is good for cambodia so we can avoid going the path of destruction again like in past current history of our country. we have to be able to balance what is really good for our khmer people and our beloved country while at the same time work well with the world as well as our world now depend on each other for trades, diplomacy, education and so on... we cannot afford to be isolated again, and we have to develop and modernize our country of cambodia like the rest of the developing nations out there! we have to play it smartly and cleverly, we have to be enlightened, educated worldly, etc...
1;17AM,
bangkak, was very dirty place to live- no sanitation - drug dealing, hooker, etc,,,
khmer government, needs to clean up, needs to improve living standar.. needs to improve city night life,,,,
i think there is nothing corrupt or dictatorial about cambodian gov't today. some oppositon politicians just use that as an excuse to attack the gov't they are opposing, that's all! that said, cambodian gov't just need to properly put in place good, professional management of the country, city, way of living of the people, etc, etc... cambodia came a long way over communism, dictatorial system, etc, etc, i don't think cambodia is that way again, especially not hardcore style. give cambodian gov't and khmer people a chance to blossom, and we will show the world so. we can do this, call for good management system for cambodia, reforms of course! god bless cambodia.
1;17AM, it is the most dirty place at Hun Sen' government, drug dealing, corruption, hookers, killing, cheating election and distorting etc.. Who is gonna clean that place? tell me.
we all can agree that the old system needs to be changed or reformed to some degree. doesn't mean we want or need revolution or destructive war or conflict or fighting to do that, that is unnecessary and uncalled for. instead, use education and training and put the right, trained people for the jobs and we will see the good result. yes, there are other alternative to fixing the social problems, it takes patient and education as well, they say violence is not necessary to solve violence, especially looking back to the past, we see too much destruction and suffering, so why go that route again, unless you are stupid forever, anyway... use other routes, violence is not one of those routes, ok!
Mr. Ben, your ideas are so off base. Cambodia needs investment to grow. Cambodia needs the best and brightness students to stay home.
Raise taxes to fund education.
Education...Education...Education..
it's good to see more more talks about improvement and reforming cambodia than just conflict and fighting and so on. i think i'm more cooperative and more interested in helping to find solution than to pick a fight among each other, you know! that's a good improvement so far. i believe in team work as it will get things done more than being selfish and lonely. god bless all.
yes, get rid of ignorance and emphasize more education for all khmer people, ok! no exception! more taxes to help with education, etc, ok!
The monarchy is no longer relevant in Cambodia.
MR.Ben,
you a better luck by joining the SRP Party. It's the only one left to fight with the CPP Party.
Long Live the SRP Party!!!
Mr. Ken Sohka, why are you and your attack dogs are so quite? Hun Sen is not paying you anymore? You're usless piece of S__ht!
"does not support foreign investment in Cambodia".. a big wrong idea !!
"...the NRP does not support foreign investment in Cambodia, nor the production of export goods."
It clearly shows the author lacks totally insight in how to even do a small business at home. Foreign investments and exports are the keys to economic growth to provide jobs and prosperity to the people.
They also allow the transfer of knowledge and technology to Cambodia who needs them so badly to be able to compete on a world stage.
They are not the root cause of the problems in Cambodia. It is how the government handles them that is the real cause of problems.
You can't just isolate the country in the same manner as the KR and hope for advancement and prosperity. This is the 21st century!
"... The Cambodian government sells rice to foreign countries while its own people go hungry."
This is a complete nonsense. Hunger is not due to the selling of the rice in surplus, but rather the inequal distribution of wealth and opportunity in the country. Corruption and mismanagement of resources also play key roles here.
"The NRP will work to return Buddhism to the highest position ...the government."
Religion has no place in government. There are now many faiths in Cambodia. Buddhism, though it may be observed (Many people claiming to be buddhists may not observe closely Buddha's teaching and principles) by the majority of Cambodians is not the only religion in the country.
Government's responsibility is to provide freedom of religion to any Cambodian who wants to practise their chosen religion.
"The NRP will work to strengthen the King’s role in the religious and social life of Cambodia, ...throughout history."
The king must earn a respect from the people by demonstrating his courage, wisdom and ability to help his children in the kingdom in the fight against injustice, violations of human rights and poverty and he must not be respected because his father decided to give the crown to him and therefore he is called a king!
Kingship is an earned title if the king wants all the respects he desires.
"...return the land to the King’s ownership, for the free use of all Cambodian citizens."
This is certainly a very bad idea. The king can just be as bad as Mr. Hun Sen right now once he holds all the power. True democracy depends on check and balance of power according to a fair and agreed-upon formulas and the enforcement of all the laws and rules are done by the court and nobody is above the law including the king.
I can go on and on to refute every point suggested by Mr. Ben, but for the sake of time and space, I should stop here and give Mr. Ben a zero on his suggestion.
Well, I would never vote for the NRP anyway and this proposal certainly convinces me that some of the NRP supporters are really illogical and extreme. In addition I have never thought of Prince Ranarridh as a good political leader anyway.
Anet Khmer
1:10 AM,
Thank you very much for the link to the dancing party of all of the high-ranking government officials.
It is quite interesting!
Anet Khmer
Stop talking about Khmer king
and Khmer monarchy,Cambodians
need to abolish them.Enough is
enough.
King and monarchy destroyed
Cambodia.
Sihanouk gave away Khmer Krom
in 1949.he allowed Vietcong
use deep inside Khmer land,
Ho Chi Minh Trail to fight US
army in 1960.
Sihanouk again asked Vietcong
to take and invade Cambodia
in 1970;he needed power and
as king of Cambodia.
Time changed.
Cambodia needs change.
Khmer people must destroy king,
monarchy,and Hun Sen dictator.
The wind of change will come in
Cambodia.Now is in Malaysia.
Wake up,stand up,and rise up
against monarchy and Hun Sen
dictator.
Khmer should be free from
monarchy and Hun Sen.
Ben, I support you. Good proposal, but Ranarith should join with Sam Rainsy for a strong opposition and will win over CPP then Cambodia will see change. Ranarith, Sam rainsy alone can not harm to CPP.
Koh Tral Island must not be forgotten
By Ms. Rattana Keo
Why do Koh Tral Island, known in Vietnam as Phu Quoc, a sea and land area covering proximately over 30,000 km2 [Note: the actual land size of Koh Tral itself is 574 square kilometres (222 sq miles)] have been lost to Vietnam by whose treaty? Why don’t Cambodia government be transparent and explain to Cambodia army at front line and the whole nation about this? Why don't they include this into education system? Why?
Cambodian armies are fighting at front line for 4.6 km2 on the Thai border and what's about over 30,000km2 of Cambodia to Vietnam. Nobody dare to talk about it! Why? Cambodian armies you are decide the fate of your nation, Cambodian army as well as Cambodian people must rethink about this again and again. Is it fair?
Koh Tral Island, the sea and land area of over 30,000 square kilometres have been lost to Vietnam by the 1979 to 1985 treaties. The Cambodian army at front line as well as all Cambodian people must rethink again about these issues. Are Cambodian army fighting to protect the Cambodia Nation or protecting a very small group that own big lands, big properties or only protecting a small group but disguising as protecting the Khmer nation?
The Cambodian army at front lines suffer under rain, wind, bullets, bombs, lack of foods, lack of nutrition and their families have no health care assistance, no securities after they died but a very small group eat well, sleep well, sleep in first class hotel with air conditioning system with message from young girls, have first class medical care from oversea medical treatments, they are billionaires, millionaires who sell out the country to be rich and make the Cambodian people suffer everyday.
Who signed the treaty 1979-1985 that resulted in the loss over 30,000 km2 of Cambodia??? Why they are not being transparent and brave enough to inform all Cambodians and Cambodian army at front line about these issues? Why don't they include Koh Tral (Koh Tral size is bigger than the whole Phom Phen and bigger than Singapore [Note: Singapore's present land size is 704 km2 (271.8 sq mi)]) with heap of great natural resources, in the Cambodian education system?
Look at Hun Sen's families, relatives and friends- they are billionaires, millionaires. Where did they get the money from when we all just got out of war with empty hands [in 1979]? Hun Sen always say in his speeches that Cambodia had just risen up from the ashes of war, just got up from Year Zero with empty hands and how come they are billionaires, millionaires but 90% of innocent Cambodian people are so poor and struggling with their livelihood every day?
Smart Khmer girl, President Ms. Rattana Keo,
solution better is sending one missil or atomic bomb to the royal palais .
This guy is an attorney? His writing is 6th grade level at best. His thinking is like China during the "boxer rebellion" time, isolationism. In a nut shell, it's the opposite of free and open market and democracy. Who wants that?
Please NO Prince, He is useless. Let people of Cambodia changes the government. Thank you
Pricess are in for the money and ready to retires Ben. He never do shit or give a shit for the country but just look for a younger girl and scamm people for money. he no more than others people as looking for a way to make money.
Don't be pleur! Mr. Ben is just another pedophile who wants to collaborate with Ranariddh in order to preserve the rights to rape and molest the under age Khmer children and Apsara dancers!!
