THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) — The U.N.'s highest court has ordered troops from both Thailand and Cambodia to immediately withdraw military forces from disputed areas around a World Heritage temple straddling their border.
The International Court of Justice was acting on Cambodia's request to order Thai troops out of the area, where at least 20 people have died in clashes since 2008.
But the court went beyond that request and drew a "provisional demilitarized zone" free of military and police from both countries.
It also called Monday on the two nations to allow ASEAN officers into the area to observe a cease-fire.
The court ruled in 1962 that the Preah Vihear temple is in Cambodian territory.

I want to see the details of the interpretation and order. This is not a solution at all....if this is true it only encourages the Thais to claim this area once and for all. It means the Thais has legitimate claim over the disputed zone. How can Cambodians withdraw from its own territory, ie Preah Vihear......it's a win for Thailand....this is what they want.....so when is this DMZ going to end? This is creating more problem in the future.....war is inevitable....
the final ruling is next, this is only a provisional(temporary) order, you know! the court is working on the final ruling a few months from now. i trust the court will only base on the existing law, not emotion. the court will look into all aspects of the existing law going back to the 1907 international treaty map, of course. as stated the dispute is the surround lands, not the temple itself, but we know siem 's intention though. this is where the court steps in, to settle the issue based on the rule of law, period. well, i think the law is on cambodia's side! don't worry, my dear. allow the court to do their work.
