Cambodia’s GDP growth likely to exceed 8%

Cambodia’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product) is expected to grow over 8 % this year despite rising inflation, Cambodian Minister of Commerce Cham Prasidh said Thursday.

He said 3 of the country’s four economic pillars, garment exports, tourism, agriculture and real estate, are expected to post strong increases this year.

“Based on the figures in the first half of this year, the garment and textile exports rose up to 45%, tourism industry up by 13%, and agriculture is going well. I believe the country’s economic growth this year will exceed 8%,” the minister said at a press briefing after the conclusion of the 17th Greater Mekong Sub-region Ministerial Conference.

Earlier this year, the government forecast this year’s GDP growth at 6%.

The commerce minister said the real estate and construction sector has also started to recover this year after it was hard hit by the global financial crisis since Y 2008.

Despite the minister’s optimism, Director-general of the National Bank of Cambodia Nguon Sokha warned that the country’s inflation could reach as high as 8 percent this year, up from the previous prediction of 5 percent due to soaring prices of petroleum, food, and consuming products.

Hi Everyone,

One of KI-Media member who has his name in Facebook as Khmer Sovannaphumi but his real name is Pang Sokheoun, former political asylum and now living in Sweden. He always copies news from here to post in his facebook profile to promote himself, but right now, he tries to removed and blocked anyone who dares to reveal his con activity particular he tries to hide what he has cheated his wife (Sreypov Chea) by having a girfriend (Sokunthear Som) behind his wife back. Now, his girlfriend had ran way from him after she knew his cheating.

A con man Pang Sokhoeun as well as KI-Media like to insult to the government officers who have affairs, but himself does even worse than other people. What a shame!

for cambodia GDP is nothing.
your monthly salary is $40 or less
your fish is $ 2-4 per kilogram.
your rice, medicine, household need
and farmer do not even have land, ox etc.
only a few people in the CPP that brag about how rich they are.
Cambodians need a new non-dicatatorial, non-communist, non- subservient government.

Khmer must rid of viet's slave government.

One long term plan that the expansionist deploys to make Khmers vanish is to destroy all Khmer natural resource so that the poor people cannot survive or survive but with a short life expectancy.

For instance, we used to have a saying "mean teuk, mean trey" is no longer exist. So, instead of having fish for nutrition, most of the poor people resort to salt with rice, etc...This would shorten our people life.

Therefore, Ah Kwack, Mi Kanhchrook, Ah Cheam Yab must open your eye and look at your master Maha Chor Yuon's tactic to make Khmers disappear...

cpp and Sen have set their mind to be yuon's dog- they never change no matter what we say.
we must change them or Cambodia will be another Champa or at least kampucheakrom.

the longest I live is 25 more years, after that I will not see the world but I now feel sorry for the future Cambodians children who have to live under yuon's rule because of traitors like sen, sim, rin and cpps.

Each of the growth setors has a connection with export- garments, tourism, agriculture. But wait, real estate? In a poor country like Cambodia? Who can afford such beautiful houses? Then I realise, yes Cambodia exports land as well! I became sad.

Lots of Cambodian young graduates are unemployed.

Massive farmers in the countrysides of all Cambodia's provinces are starving and evicted from their lands and become landless farmers. So this GDP growth is nothing if the livelihood of the people are not improved.
