Since Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, the Philippines and Vietnam are already members of the Unesco Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, Thailand would find it very useful if it also joined, because it could get to know others and learn without borders, a senior official said yesterday.
Next week, Thailand will consider entering 30 items, including fish sauce, the recipe for tom yam kung (spicy shrimp soup) and the carving of banana stalks, as part of the national intangible cultural heritage list for this year. If Thailand joined the convention it could easily propose more items to be added to the list.
Somchai Sianglai, permanent secretary at the Culture Ministry, said the minister, Sukumol Kunplome, provided details of a discussion with the Foreign Ministry to the Cabinet yesterday. In the meeting between the two ministries, it was decided that Cambodia registering its heritage did not affect Thailand's right to register its own cultural legacy. Next week the Culture Ministry will hold a meeting with the Foreign and Commerce ministries as well as members of the media to come up with initial guidelines.
Department of Cultural Promotion chief Apinan Poshyananda said that initially 30 items would be registered as national intangible treasures pending the committees' final decision.
The items include readings of the Sepa-Thai poem, carving of banana stalks, the Thai sport of kite flying, the greeting gesture known locally as wai, the Songkran festival, the recipe of tom yam kung and fish sauce.

In order to promote peace and understanding, it is wrong to accuse one another of "stealing". This incites anger and can lead to war.
Thais may have many things in common with Khmer because of shared history and mixing of the two peoples...We simply are like siblings in one family...we should learn to love not hate.
It's ok for Thai to register these items as thailand's cultural heritage. This should be great news for Thailand and Cambodia alike.

If the UNESCO allows Thailand's claim to be approved, they will set another string of disputes between Thailand and Cambodia. The point is Thailand trying to turn what was Khmer's civilization to Thai's. They are deceiving world to think about their culture. This is a stealing of Khmer culture in process. That is why Preah Vihear is fierce battle for Thailand. They call Khmer kings are Thai in their history to make their citizens think it's their culture and their land and temples. This is definitely a problem and it is must be fundamentally changed.
I am wondering if Bangkok would consider the royal taxation of the prostitution/sex enslavery as its national intangible culture with UNESCO?

One of KI-Media member who has his name in Facebook as Khmer Sovannaphumi but his real name is Pang Sokhoeun, former political asylum and now living in Sweden. He always copies news from here to post in his facebook profile to promote himself, but right now, he tries to remove and blocked anyone who dares to reveal his con activity particular he tries to hide what he has cheated his wife (Sreypov Chea) by having a girlfriend (Sokunthear Sam) behind his wife back. Now, his girlfriend had run way from him after she knew his cheating.
A con man Pang Sokhoeun as well as KI-Media like to insult to the government officers who have affairs, but himself does even worse than other people. What a shame!
When one person had posted in KI-Media and accused that a con man Pang Sokhoeun is a brother of Som Ek (former Chief of Tiger's head sign guerilla, who was arrested and put in prison by Cambodian government) during that time, a cheater Pang Sokhoeun came to deny in his blogs immediately and had pointed the blame to Mr. Sourn Serey Rotha, but this time, he has bury his head in the sand because he cannot deny the truth that he has cheated his wife. Right now, all he can do is removed and blocked anyone who dared to reveal his cheating.
Why we are afraid of Thai who want to steal khmer heritage? If Khmer are strong enough, there is no body could not steal from Khmer. Actually, Khmer lands are lost by whom? because of Khmer stupid and ignorant leaders who love: power, money, women and alcoohole? They are not compettent to lead and protect the country.

But some others Khmer Thai hate
Cambodians also.Why?They said,

Khmer ethnic groups in Thailand
have double populations in
Cambodia.
They speak Thai outside the house,
but inside the house,they speak
Khmer.
Even Khmer Krom,they speak Khmer
at home,but Vietnamese outside the
house.
How about Khmer in the third world?
The third generation,(30 years in abroad,they could not speak Khmer,
and they could read Khmer on the
blogs.
Thailand and Vietnam govt never,never want Khmer to learn to read,write,and speak Khmer.
But they speak Khmer at home.
Thai should admit that they are Khmer ancestors.
remember,too, that self-educated is important for your own personal and intellectual growth as well, not just from school, ok! try to study khmer on your own when there's no teachers or school available, ok, invest in some khmer books, etc, and learn to read, write and pronounce in khmer everyday, ok! be smart about it, never forget who you are and where your origin and where you came from, ok! be vigilant and discipline in life, ok! and be perseverant in your studies always!
