Pheu Thai Party list MP Yingluck Shinawatra was elected Thailand's 28th prime minister by a majority vote in the House of Representatives on Friday morning.

A total of 296 MPs voted in support of Ms Yingluck, the country’s first female prime minister, while three Democrat MPs voted against her, with 197 abstentions - including Ms Yingluck, the new speaker and one of his deputies, and most members of the main opposition parties, the Democrat and Bhumjaithai parties, and lone wolf Chuwit Kamolvisit.

The meeting to elect the new prime minister started about 10am, chaired by House Speaker Somsak Kiatsuranont.

When the agenda moved to the election of the prime minister, Pheu Thai list MP Sanoh Thienthong proposed Ms Yingluck for the position. The nomination was supported by 294 MPs.

She was the only candidate. The opposition did not nominate a candidate for the top job.

"Ms Yingluck gained more than half of the votes, therefore I declare that Ms Yingluck has been voted in as the new prime minister by members of the House of Representatives," the speaker declared and announced the closure of the meeting.

Mr Somsak will submit the result to His Majesty the King for royal appointment. Until then, Ms Yingluck remains prime minister-elect.

Ms.Mu Sokhua for prime minister. Sam Rainsy is a weak leader and his agendas are not creditable through his snare-like activities.

Hi Everyone,

One of KI-Media member who has his name in Facebook as Khmer Sovannaphumi but his real name is Pang Sokheoun, former political asylum and now living in Sweden. He always copies news from here to post in his facebook profile to promote himself, but right now, he tries to removed and blocked anyone who dares to reveal his con activity particular he tries to hide what he has cheated his wife (Sreypov Chea) by having a girlfriend (Sokunthear Som) behind his wife back. Now, his girlfriend had ran way from him after she knew his cheating.

A con man Pang Sokhoeun as well as KI-Media like to insult to the government officers who have affairs, but himself does even worse than other people. What a shame!

4:14pm is uneducated and shortsighted.
SRP formerly KNP is manufactured and maintained by Mr. Rainsy.
MP Sochua is educated, smart, and nationalist and has the ability to be Prime minister, yes, but Mr. Rainsy's and Suchua's political capability level is not the same.
Anyone's repladement for Mr. Rainsy is a symbol of Pary's crumbling and that is it.
any one who is on top of the SRP is the targe of removal by Viet and Sen.

10:23PM,
Then I would say people are hypocritical. You guys keep preaching for democracy and to get Hun Sen out of power. You think Hun Sen has been in power too long, and he's not effective leader. Yet, you think Rainsy has this mandate and privilege to lead his party indefinitely? Any replacement of Rainsy is the symbol of crumbling to the party? Why you can't say the same thing about Hun Sen then? Why Rainsy has this free pass that you can't seem to criticize him at all? You make it sound like Rainsy owns his party. If you want to change a prime minister, maybe you think about changing the party leader too. Sam Rainsy party has the same leader for how long?

To 11:41PM

The reason Sam rainsy changed the Khmer Nation Party to his Name is to protect the party from being taken over by traitors, like BLDP etc...

In the business world, they do the same thing.

It's not selffish, it's smart thinking, that's why Kem Sokha wants to merge with him in order to change SRP party's name and cause SRP's downfall.

Sam Rainsy is smarter and more patriotic than you think, Cambodia is still lucky to have him around.

The Thailand usually has had 500
seats:
*Yingluck(Red Shirts) 296 seats.
*Abhisit(Yellow Shirts)164 seats.
*Other small parties 40 seats.
Yingluck means(Ying >lady;luck >
lucky)= Lucky Lady.
Time changed;after Red Shirts
protesters protested in Bangkok
left and 90 people dead.
Because of this caused,Thai people
changed their minds to vote for
Pheu Thai party.
Will Thai have a coup d'État?

If the riots and protesters happen before the election in 2013 in
Cambodia more damage people life
than in Thailand,Sam Rainsy Party
maybe,will win the election.

If Hun Sen would have a coup,
Khmer people and the world could
not stand on him.
Will China or Vietnam give him
a hand? No.They'll get trouble.

Good luck! Yingluck!

That is the game that the expansionist has been using to break Khmer apart by creating friction between Khmers - painting Khmer face with black marker.

I don't believe Mu Sok Huor and Sam Rainsy are stupid to play your game.

Most of the times that kind of comments were generated by Yiekcong to shift our attention from looking at the massive influx of yiekcong into Cambodia.
