"Oil and gas production represent an “opportunity” for increased economic growth and poverty reduction."
Cambodia expects to see its first flow of oil and gas from offshore blocs in December 2012, a senior lawmaker said.

Speaking at a resources conference over the weekend, Cheam Yiep, a Cambodian People’s Party parliamentarian, said “if nothing changes, Cambodia will get its first oil on Dec. 12, 2012, at noon.”

Oil and gas production represent an “opportunity” for increased economic growth and poverty reduction, he said.

However, Cheam Yiep said the goal was not yet to put a polished product on the market, but to sell the raw resources.

Cheang Sokha, director of the Youth Resources Development Program, said oil and gas are new to Cambodia, but he encouraged more information be made available, especially to the nation’s youth.

Thon Sospeara, 22, who attended the conference, said he did not know much about the natural resource, but he said he wanted more transparency and was curious about how much revenue it might bring.

Sem Vecha, a 21-year-old student at the Royal University of Phnom Penh, said she hoped for “good management of the income” by the government.

Cambodia has at least five known blocs for petroleum exploration in the Gulf of Thailand, as well as potential resources in the Tonle Sap basin.

Suong Sophorn is a role model for Khmer people to follow.
We can use his courage and bravery as the foundation for our moral force to fight and stop Yiekcong from swallowing Cambodia.

We cannot allow this current puppet government to keep executing its mater's orders, which are detrimental to Cambodia’s existence. Khmer people will become a minority in Cambodia soon. Then the Yiekcongs are the one who control our country's fate.

So many millions Yiekcongs are already residing inside Cambodia. They are ready to vote for the puppet government. And the opposition parties will have no chance to win.
Above all, the winner will not represent and reflect the indigenous Khmer’s will.

The peaceful mass demonstration is almost the only option left that we have to stop this puppet government from further damaging and destroying Cambodia.

We'll watch the CPP thieves steal and possibly clash among themselves for a piece of the pie. My wish is the opposite will happen.

The peacewalk on 09/21/2011, they stopped it. Would you think they will allow peacefull protest anywhere in Phnom Penh? I totally disagree and by doing peacefull protest, you just show your face in where they will hunt you down. To fight with Khmer Rouge you have to use Khmer Rouge techniques. I was one of the garrilla war leader in Prey Veng, and with my experiences, I would recommend you not to do so...Think this way...Once my member had shot the cargo truck loaded with engine and other factory goods to Vietnam in Krang Svay near Kompong Trabek...you think about it, OK?
