Op-Ed originally written in Khmer by Khmer Sme

Addressing to numerous attendees to the seminar organized by the Association of Khmer Writers at the Russian Cultural Center yesterday, Khieu Kanharith, the minister of Information, warned that he will eliminate authors who write about upheavals in his country. He said that writers should talk about good education, and they should not write about anything that could cause social upheavals.
Even though his speech was an advice, it means and reveals an open warning to all writers who plan on writing anything that could bring shame to a society governed by Samdach Hun Sen or a society under the rule of the CPP.
It clearly shows that he was issuing an veiled warning to writers. Authors and participants who joined the seminar yesterday were not very pleased. Some indicated that this is a threat to writers and a restriction of freedom of expression rights of writers.
Some said that writers should not be restricted because they are independent writers, so they would know what to write and what not to write, therefore Khieu Kanharith should not raise this issue by veiled threatening on the writers. These writers said that if the leaders are leading the country properly and they bring true progress to the country, or if they did not do anything wrong, they should not be scared of attacks by writers, i.e. if the leaders are pure gold, they should not be scared of fire heat.
The issue raised by Khieu Kanharith is a clear message to all writers to be mindful of their writing or it could mean that the writers should be sycophant of the government and they should sell their brain, conscience and heart to the government in exchange for a peaceful life, otherwise, these writers will have to face assassinations, jailing or exile just like Mr. Kong Bun Chhoeun.
In the world, is there any country that prevents authors from writing freely except for the communists and the like of Khieu Kanharith?
Is this a society that boasts itself to be a fully democratic country?

All CPP officials needed to get an education that is not tie to Cambodia or Vietnam education systems, clearly what one gets out of Cambodia education system is undermined.
A government that doesn't understand Economic is the government that depends on Donor countries for it well-being. A government that is undereducated is a Government that has not any UNDERSTANDING OF ENVIRONMENTAL AND/OR THE ECOSYSTEM ALTOGETHER.

Hun Sen's rule is coming to an end very soon. His last term will be at the end of this election. Despite whatever the election result turns out to be, Hun Sen will not continue to stay in power. If he lost the election, he will definitely be out of power. However, if he wins the election, there will be an uprising to remove him by force. If he is wise as some people claim as he is, he would uses this last opportunity as a leverage to negotiate his way out peacefully. If not, his fate will not be different from Sadam Hussein or Muammar Gaddafi.
