Judging Khmer rouge without judging yuons is just a joke because youns are mastermind of Khmer rouge and the killing field. Yuons are the real murderers. I am saddened by this old idelogue who claimed the KR actually saved Cambodia from Yuon. In 1970's it was the NVA who supported him and Pol Pot group to form and destroy Cambodia to year zero. It was the Khmer Republic and the under trained and under equiped that held the NVA at bay. KR did not become a viable force until the end of 1973, they were carrying ammo for NVA and slaughtered innoccent people to prove their might. In 1973, I walked evry inch of the land from Batheay to Prey totung on route 7 with a Garand M1 given to us to protect Cambodia, there was not a KR in sight, The Khmer Republic soldiers fought inch by inch with the 7th and the 9th division of the NVA with ratio 1 to 5, this is not countin the extensive networks of the NVA/KR logistical columns. As for us, we have very little logitical support on the ground except whatever USAF and scrap and grop for us , in any given company, we were given AK 47, SKA, 1914 enfield rifle, Carbine M1,M2, Garand and The Company commander got an AR15, just findnig ammo alone was our biggest challenge. The NVA was very well equiped.
For the KR to have succeed in 1975 was like they got in to the ring after their opponet was unconscious and they got to take the finalk blow and declare victory. Without the NVA, the KR was not bunch of thieves.
