Midway through the second morning of testimony from 73-year-old witness Long Norin, Ieng Sary’s former aide, the international prosecutor at the Khmer Rouge tribunal abruptly stopped questioning.
“Are you reluctant to give testimony?” international prosecutor Dale Lysak asked Long Norin yesterday via video link to the former Khmer Rouge cadre’s home in Banteay Meanchey.
During yesterday’s proceedings, it became apparent the testimony of the former Khmer Rouge foreign minister’s aide was deviating from what he had told court investigators in 2007.
“You are not reluctant about testifying against your former boss Ieng Sary,” Lysak asked. “Someone you have known for 40 years?” Long Norin denied such a close relationship with Ieng Sary. “Since January 7, 1979, I have never had any contact with Ieng Sary,” he said.
Long Norin, who worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during the Democratic Kampuchea period, testified as a witness to Ieng Sary’s alleged criminal acts and the operations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which prosecutors say was called “the antechamber of death”.
For almost an entire day yesterday, prosecutors questioned Long Norin about the ministry’s power structure (“no one was permitted to make decisions in Ieng Sary’s absence”), the fate of returnees who disappeared (“this I do not know”), and the consequence of written “biographies” (“almost everyone implicated in Long Norin’s biography was sent to S-21”).
Long Norin told the court he did not remember the statement he gave in 2007 and could not remember it being re-read to him on Tuesday.
The prosecution pressed Long Norin on his post-regime relationship with Ieng Sary and tried to ask him about the Democratic National United Movement, formed after 1979. Ieng Sary was president and Long Norin secretary-general.
“Theoretically, the DNUM still exists, but practically it does not,” Long Norin said. “There were never any meetings [of DNUM].”
Ieng Sary’s international defence counsel protested this line of questioning, which strayed well beyond the 1975 to 1979 jurisdiction of the court. His objection was sustained.
Documentation Centre of Cambodia director Youk Chhang told the Post that DNUM was formed on September 5, 1996, and both Ieng Sary and Long Norin were listed as taking part in the meeting.
On November 3, 1997, Long Norin travelled to Preah Sihanouk with Ieng Sary, as his aide, and the Second General Assembly of DNUM was held on January 25, 1999, Youk Chhang said.
Kong Duong, a former Khmer Rouge radio commentator, now the Pailin Information Department director, told the Post he had witnessed the DNUM meetings. “I met him after 1980, and I observed that they [Ieng Sary and Long Norin] have a close relationship,” he said.

To the outside worlds, the foreigners, and the foreign journalists always think that Cambodia about hates the Vietnamese and everything about the Vietnamese and that is it! The outside worlds need to understand that Cambodian people are proud people with history and culture and a former Khmer empire! Cambodia has lost so much to Thailand and now to Vietnam including the Khmer Krom to the Vietnamese in 1949! This is so fresh in the mind of Cambodian people and nothing can change that! So the fear and the hatred for the Vietnamese are real and natural because as long as the Vietnamese continue to oppress the Khmer Krom people and the hatred of the century will continue! The discussions, the debates, and the cycle of violence will continue until there is a solution to the Khmer Krom people! No Khmer people will trust the Vietnamese government! This is not about old hatred die hard as mention by Luke Hunt! This is about the flesh and blood of all Khmer people and they must not stand still when they see their brothers and sisters still living under oppression!

As for the Khmer Rouge and they may have the right ideology in how to save Cambodia but if higher powers want to destroy their ideology is also possible! Not all good ideas can become reality without enough resources to execute it! The Khmer Rouge never has enough resources to execute their great idea from the beginning because they start out by depending on the farmers for food supply and depend on the enemy for weapons! This is such a fuck up idea but somehow they succeed thanks in part to King Sihanouk to lend his credibility! Now when the Khmer Rouge such Pol Pot, Nuon Chea, Khieu Samphan, and Ieng Sary who are new comer leaders trying to take over the Khmer communists’ structure set up by the Vietcong government since the 1930 and of course there will be double agents within the Khmer Rouge structure to provide misinformation and disinformation to the higher level Khmer Rouge leadership to make sure that the Khmer Rouge will never succeed in pursuing their ideology! May I remind you that many of these Khmer Rouge leaders are educated in the West and of course they know the value of life, the injustice, and the oppression because they themselves have experience it first hand during the French colonial…why do such a bad thing to their own people? Eng Thirith who is a female Khmer Rouge leader even knows Shakespeare! How awesome is that! ahhahhahahah
Ieng Sary, Nuon Chea and Khieu Samphna.
1. Ieng Sary always put his family interest first .
2. Nuon Chea and Khieu Samphan put their family interest next such as Khieu Samphan has no any money in both local and oversea banks so Nuon Chea.
Ieng Sary know a lot about yuon dirty tricks after Nuon Chea ( but Ieng Sary has had an heart problem since before his arrest in late 2007.
Communist Party of Kampuchea or Khmer Rouge or CPK.
CPK was established in 1960 to be remained as an alliance with Vietnam but not to be under yuon order.
The Communist Party of Kampuchea was a combination of 80 % of former Khmer Viet Minh and 20 % of a Paris students group was created in 1960 by 3 former figures as follow:
1. Tou Samouth.
2. Nuon Chea.
3. Pol Pot.
After 1954 Geneva conference there were about 5000 of Khmer Viet Minh fighters in Cambodia . About 1000 of these former Khmer Viet Minh went to Hanoi with Son Ngoc Minh or better known as Achar Mean including other Khmer Viet Minh like Pen Sovann.
Nearly all of 4000 of these former Khmer Viet Minh later joined the Communist Party of Kampuchea through Tou Samouth, Kea Meas , So Phim, Rhos Nhim and many other Khmer Viet Minh senior military commanders.
So that why from the beginning of the foundation of this Communist Party of Kampuchea or Khmer Rouge there were about 80 % of these former Khmer Viet Minh fighters and senior military commanders such as Tou Smouth, Keo Meas , So Phim and Rhos Nhim ect…
After the fall down of Phnom to Khmer Rouge or Communist Party of Kampuchea on April 17, 1975 these former Khmer Viet Minh fighters became the chiefs of villages, communes , districts and Zones like So Phim in Eastern Zone Secretary and Rous Yim in Northern Zone Secretary .
Note:
1. Tou Samouth , So Phim , Rhos Nhim , played important role in joining all former Khmer Viet Mint fighters into the Communist Party of Kampuchea after the Communist Party of Kampuchea was created in 1960.
2. Nuon Chea Played important role in joining other former Khmer Issarak like Ta Mok , Ke Pok into the Communist Party of Kampuchea or Khmer Rouge after the Communist Party of Kampuchea was created in 1960.
3. The First name of the Communist Party of Kampuchea was the Cambodian Worker’s Party and renamed to the Communist Party in 1966 after Tou Samouth was arrested and killed in 1962.
4. Between 1960-1975 Pol Pot had about 40 % or 45 % especially after 1970s.
Pol Pot solders never train in Hanoi or worked under the command of yuon Viet Minh as majority of former Khmer Viet Minh fighers in the Communist Party of Kampuchea were trained and fought side by side wit yuon Viet Minh during First Indochina War 1946-1954 against French colony in Cambodia.
The founder and the members of the Communist Party of Kampuchea or Khmer Rouge are between 1975-1979 are:
1. Pol Pot the Secretary General of Communist Party of Kampuchea.
2. Nuon Chea duputy Secretary of Communsit Party of Kampuchea.
3. Ieng Sary.
4. Keo Meas
5. So Phim.
6. Son Sen.
7. Ta Mok .
Khieu Samphan not getting along well with Ieng Sary and his wife ( Ieng Thirith ) since before 1998 or even before that.
But Khieu Samphan strongly supported Pol Pol policy and Pol Pot's act against yuon Hanoi to put Lao and Cambodia under yuon annex known as Indochia Federation.

Once again, whether or not all you dumb Khmer surrender yourselves to Viet, Khmer is now deep-rooted Viet, and irreversibly so already.
Challenge me if all of you dumb Khmer can. We have millions of us (legally the majority thanks to that dumb Hun Sen) that will vote for Viet-Khmer candidate legally and democratically forever, even the outside world would support and agree and as a matter of factly, there is not much the outside world can do about it...
