Tourism arrivals in Cambodia rise by 15%

International tourist arrivals in Cambodia increased 15%year-on-year in the first 10 months this year, based on statistics from the Tourism Ministry.

From January to October this year, the country received 2.31 million foreign tourists compared to 2 million tourists in the same period last year. Vietnam topped the chart among the top 10 arrivals with 516,400 tourists, up 22%, followed by South Korea with 273,600, up 19%.


During the period, Thai tourists to Cambodia declined by 26% to 91,350 due to the two countries' border disputes earlier this year. The tourism industry is one of the four major pillars supporting the Cambodian economy.

In 2010, the sector received 2.5 million foreign tourists, generating total revenue of US$1.75 billion.

cambodia needs also to expand our international airports to 4000 meters in length by 60 meters in width, you know! we want larger and modern international airports, ok! i think this is very important for cambodia to have big airfields, really! right now, cambodia's major airports are too small to received millions of tourists everyday and stop rely too much on regional airports in siem or youn country, ok! it's time for cambodia to think big in building our modern infrastructure, ok! wake up, cambodia, build bigger, ok!
