Phnom Penh, Jan 11 (VNA) – Senior officials of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) met in Cambodia’s northwestern province of Siem Reap on Jan 10 to prepare for the ASEAN Foreign Ministers Meeting, which will be held on Jan. 11.
Addressing the meeting, Secretary of State at Cambodia 's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Soeung Rathchavay, said Cambodia, 2012 ASEAN chair, will try its best to lead ASEAN summits and related meetings successfully in order to establish the ASEAN community by 2015.
According to the agenda, the ASEAN senior officials would draft many topics which will be discussed in the ASEAN Foreign Ministers Meeting as well as complete documents which will be approved by the ministers.
They also discussed ASEAN connectivity, including Thailand's proposal on ASEAN plus 3 three partnerships on connectivity, and a study on the 15 priority projects of the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity.
They would talk on the implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC), including the results of the ASEAN senior officials meeting working group on a regional Code of Conduct (COC) in the East Sea, the 4th ASEAN-China senior officials meeting on the DOC and the 7th ASEAN-China Joint Working Group on the COC.
The officials also debated the implementation of the ASEAN Charter including the ASEAN Declaration on Human Rights.
