During an inauguration of the overpass bridge named “07 Makara Bridge” this morning, Hun Xen demanded for a recognition of 07 January as an important day that brought progress to Cambodia, both in terms of human beings and in terms of number of cars.
Hun Xen, a leader who is faithful to Hanoi, unlike past Cambodia leaders who were killed or jailed by Hanoi – such as Pen Sovann and Chan Si – declared: “After 07 Jan, do you recognize the fact that Phnom Penh was empty of people? and now, do you recognize that Phnom Penh has traffic jams or not? Some accused car passengers of being corrupt, how about you who is a passenger also…?”
In the past, Hun Xen used to say that on 07 Jan, his group not only liberated the Cambodian people, but it also liberated the ghosts and the devils as well.
The inauguration of the overpass bridge, located at the Monk Hospistal red light and baptized “07 Makara Bridge”, was programmed to take place one day before the celebration of 07 January – a date the ruling CPP party considers as national holiday.
Nevertheless, a large majority of Cambodians considers 07 January as a cursed day for the Cambodian people and the entire country. It was a day of Vietnamese troops invasion into Cambodia, a day that Vietnamese immigrants were allowed to live in Cambodia in anarchy, it was a day that Viet citizens gradually wrestle property rights from Cambodians. The celebration of 07 Jan as a national holiday is a stark violation of the 23 October 1991 Paris Peace Agreements on Cambodia. This latter date was the date that ended the bloodshed between Cambodians, a date where Cambodians opened a new chapter of democracy….

These meagre developments in Cambodia today are from donor monies, from the exploitations of forests and natural resources, and from the tourism monies from our ancient temples such as Khmer's Angkor Wat. What is it that the Hun Sen regime and/or the Vietcongs have built for Khmer Nation today???Besides providing the villas, luxurious cars, big businesses to the Hun Sen clan and its cronies. The big businesses such the telecommunication and construction industries, the rubber plantations are being run/robbed by the Vietcongs.
Cambodia's development under the Hun Sen regime has made foreigners such as the Vietcongs, the Koreans, the Thais into the greedy bosses while into Khmer slave laborers,beggars, homeless.

January 07, 1979 is the day Cambodians have a chance to regain their identity and free from all kind of abusiveness and suppression from anyone and that is included Hun Sen regime and Vietnamese invasion.
