[Yellow-shirt petition on] Preah Vihear case rejected [by Thai court]

The Central Administrative Court on Friday rejected a petition filed by a yellow-shirt splinter group seeking to stop the government from withdrawing Thai troops from the disputed areas around the Preah Vihear temple.

The petition was filed by Chaiwat Sinsuwong, a core leader of the Thailand Patriot Network, on Jan 12.

In his complaint, Mr Chaiwat asked the court to issue an order prohibiting the Yingluck Shinawatra administration from following a ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) last year. The provisional order by the ICJ ordered both Thailand and Cambodia to withdraw their troops from the 17.3 square kilometre demilitarised area surrounding the 900-year-old temple.

He accused Prime Minister Yingluck of failing to perform her duties to protect Thailand’s sovereignty, and of intervening in the army’s military affairs.

The court dismissed his complaint, reasoning it had no authority to rule in the case.

It said that the premier’s decision whether to withdraw military personnel from the area was a matter related to an order under the ICJ’s jurisdiction, not about Thai government officers and the enforcement of state law. Therefore, it said, the court had no relevant standing in this case.

Thailand and Cambodia have set up a joint working group to discuss details of the troop withdrawal but have not set a timeframe yet.

One proposal being discussed is for border patrol police to be deployed to replace troops in the demilitarised zone in line with the provisional order by the ICJ.

Most highly educated Thai knew their land was Khmer's land. Some of their blood was Khmer blood. They chose to ignored this and created a fake history. Thai peoples can turn elephant into ant and vise versa. I give credits for their expert tactics and able to convince the world with their lies.

Some of their accomplishes were their own and some were adapt stolen from Khmer cultures.

Well...If Germany and France can get along and what is stopping Cambodia and Thailand from get along!

The only reason why Cambodia and Thailand can't get along is because Siem leaders see themselves as pro-Western and Cambodian leaders see themselves pro-Eastern (mainly backward communist).

If the Super Powers don't help Cambodia and Thailand to get along and the new war is just right around the corner! If Siem leaders still hold on to Thailand fake history and they can create a future without Cambodia as their peaceful neighbor!

The YingLuck government and the Cambodian government have a very cosy relationship, why the Preah Vihea and other Cambodian -Thai borders tension now, so close to the Cambodian senate election?

It looks so suspicious !

05:45 PM, you got the Siam holding on to fake history right but I don't believe in Khmer Communist and Siam pro-western . Siam had always to take Khmer's land sometime large pieces at a time, sometime small piece no matter who in charge in Cambodia. Remember even during Sihanouk or Lon Nol time Siam always wanted Preah Vihear.

Rumors from my Parents and grand parents told us Siam and Viet has already signed agreement to share and divided our country in the old days before you and I was born.
