i think books on khmer written by foreign observors aren't reflecting the true or real khmer thinking or way. yes, foreigners do observe and write from that conclusion, but it is not the same as like speaking and thinking and behaving in the real native way, i think. ms becker and other foreigners who wrote about cambodia may observed it to be that way, but i think the real meaning is more true by the native people who understand and know their language, culture, tradition, etc more daily then visitors from outside the country. i mean, foreigners may have to live in cambodia and assimilate through generation to understand the real meaning in khmer way. i don't mean it in a demeaning way, just the fact, though.
i told you, always learn from everybody in the world, never stop learning until your last breath on earth, really!
it is ok to learn from everybody such as your friends, your enemies, your acquaintences, strangers, your teachers, your professors, your advisors, your neighbors, tourists, visitors, educators, older people, younger people, even animals and insects, from past experiences, from history, etc, etc..., the list is endless, really. of course, when learning, we have to keep the good, toss out the bad, etc, called selective learning, etc; however, if it serves us well to deal with others, then by all mean, learn from them all, ok! it's called being smart, clever, enlightened, wise and so forth, ok!
