“The Age accused me of involvement with heroin, but do they have proof?”
Hun To, an influential nephew of Prime Minister Hun Sen, has denied a media report in Australia that he is wanted there for drug trafficking and other crimes.
The Age, an Australian newspaper, reported Monday that Australian police suspect Hun To of “heroin trafficking and money laundering” with a crime syndicate there.
Hun To was the target of an inquiry between 2002 and 2004, the Age reported. “But a plan to arrest and question Hun To in Melbourne was thwarted because his application for a visa was denied by Australian embassy officials in Phnom Penh, with one official citing the need to avoid a diplomatic incident,” the Age said.
Hun To is the son of Hun Sen’s brother, Hun Neng, the governor of Kampong Cham province.
Hun To told VOA Khmer Monday he was not involved in drug trafficking or other crimes reported in the news.
“The Age accused me of involvement with heroin, but do they have proof?” he said.
He said he hoped to file suit against the newspaper, but would not discuss details.
Bob Carr, Australia’s foreign minister, who was on a visit to Cambodia, declined to comment on the report. The Age did not respond to e-mail questions late Monday.
Khieu Sopheak, a spokesman for the Cambodian Interior Ministry, told VOA Khmer Monday the Cambodian government works closely with Australian law enforcement. He said it has not received criminal information related to Hun To.

Does this mean that Australia is afraid of losing the diplomatic tie with Cambodia over arresting a naughty and uneducated nephew of Hun Sen?
So what do we expect from Australia if Hun Sen were to commit the similar or worse crime?
This is not right. Suppose Hun To were to be a Cambodian ordinary citizen, he would be in the Australian jail by now.

I am a resident of Australia. I strongly encourage you to put forward your law suit against the leading newspapers in Australia on the ground of baseless defamation. So, you could clear you name and get a huge compensation in Australia. In Australia, you will get paid well if you win.
I am sure it would not be hard to get a visa. You may use your uncle Mr. Hun Sen to influence the Australian government so you can come to Australia to clear your name. Let him announce that there will be no diplomatic incident occurred when you come to Australia to clear your name as the newspapers have no proof!

In Australia before the law, every citizen remains innocent until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubts. Likewise Mr. Hun To is as he has not been proven!
As Mr. Hun To denied on VOA, he has nothing to fear. He should sue the newspapers as 8:08am suggested.

It sounds like you live in Australia so long and understand the Australia law very well.
Every newspaper or TV stations are responsible for their contents. Therefore, they have a good solid evidence on this crook, Hun To. Let Hun To and Hun Sen sue the newspaper and let's see who is winning the trial. I bet they will be thrown in jail. If you believe your boss, Hun To, innocent, tell him to go to Australia. He will be handcuffed right away when he hopped off the plane.
I don't understand why so many Khmer are so stupid in believing and supporting Hun Sen who committed a lot of crime and destroying Cambodia.

We heard all that before. But the principle lies on the fact, we can not prejudge until proven guilty. In Cambodia we don't have that luxury.
We need to encourage Mr. Hun To's words to become a reality. Sue the Australian newspapers...Let's see if Mr. Hun To can deliver his threat or not...time will tell.

1:00 PM. I agree, as an Australian, this would have been a justice to the Khmer!!! Would have been great to see Hun Sen families paying for their crimes!
At least now we know his wife lives in Melbourne. His wife must be another CPP CHkae, living on stolen money and money from drugs!
