Invitation to seminar about the plight of Beer Promotion Women and the launch of a campaign for living wages.

Dear Friends,

Welcome to the release of a new film that depicts the plights of Cambodian Beer Promotion Women and depict their struggle for decent working conditions.

On behalf of the Cambodian Food and Service Workers Federation, I would like to invite you to a press conference in relation to the release of the film and the launch of a campaign for living wage for Beer Promotion Women.

Women employed by beer breweries to work as beer promotion face horrible working conditions. Their most basic rights as spelled out in the ILO core labour standards are not respected. With a base salary far below what is needed to make a living the women are pushed to face sexual harassment, humiliation, violence and are made to consume hazardous amounts of alcohol in order to please customers and extract commission. Our rights to form unions are constantly disrespected. Giant companies, such as Carlsberg support initiatives to target individual unionist with intimidation and harassment.

It is time to put an end to this!

When: March 28, from 9:00 -12.00

Where: Cambodia Japan Cooperation Center (CJCC). Confederation de la Russie, in the Campus of Institute of Foreign Language (IFL), 12156, Phnom Penh

Please find the detailed agenda attached. For more information please feel free to contact Mora Sar, president of CFSWF at 016525781

Kind regards,

Sar Mora
President of CFSWF
