Well said about mr. sonando. I wasted about $300.00 to him when he was in the US last time. This guy is a jerk. Friend of mine in WA told me that when he was there couple year ago brought his 2nd wife with him to visit US. Well, poor khmer who believe in this guy.
I see the letter with an agenda far honest from the truth.
It is just a stir and to misguide Khmer because a few individuals within the established politic are worried about the influence and activities of Mr. Mom Sonanda because his Associations message about democracy irks them very much - both the ruling and the opposition people.
And so what if he sells hat? Every organization needs funding to run. Are we suppose to believe money magically grow on trees and that somehow Mr. Mom Sanando's activities is an exception that drives without money?
Point two, every organization needs a prop, a symbol, or an icon for establishing and identifying themselves to create sense of solidarity within their unit. Is the writer of the letter saying, Mr. Sonando's Samakum should be deprived of this right as well? So now the hat and the associations signs are off limit? Way to go democracy for Cambodia!
Lastly, it is naive to think that Mr. Sanando's Samakum activities are free of politics. The very idea of voter registration and empowerment is rooted in politic. All movements to change the status quo are movements of politics - whether they are the politic of one man eat at the top like that of Hun Sen, or the politic of let every man be empower to find his own livelihood like those of many other human rights, NGOs, and other "non" political party in the world - the question is not whether actions have an underlying political motivation, but to what end does that political motivation serves.
Maybe the path of Mr. Sanando does not bring happiness to all Khmer, but should that be a reason his organization should be torn down and make to crumble?
Because honestly, look around, do you see any other organization like his around in Cambodia made for Khmer?
Oh wait, I do, it's called the Oversea Association of Vietnamese people! Empower, protect, and register!
If you can't create, do not destroy. We are Khmer, it is high time to unite, and if we cannot, do not stand in the way of those who can.

Mam Sonando est un traite à la nation Khmère. Il sert l'intérêt des Youns sans le savoir.
