Construction begins on new Vietnam-Cambodia border marker

A ground breaking ceremony for border marker 314 was held in Kien Giang province on March 25 according to the friendship borderline agreement signed between the Vietnamese and Cambodian Governments.
The event was co-organised by the Kien Giang provincial People’s Committee and the Administrative Committee of Kampot province in Cambodia.
Since 2007, the Kien Giang and Kampot province joint task force has identified 15 out of 28 locations to plant border markers. Border marker 314 is the final to be erected along land borders between the two provinces.
Addressing the ceremony, the vice governor of Kampot province highlighted the results of the comprehensive cooperation between Kien Giang and Kampot provinces to establish a peaceful, friendly borderline, contributing to strengthening the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia.
The planting of the final border marker realizes the agreement reached by the Vietnam-Cambodia Joint Committee for Land Border Demarcation and Marker Planting during its session in Phnom Penh from March 12-14, 2012, she added.
Tran Thanh Nam, Vice Chairman of the Kien Giang provincial People’s Committee, also highlighted the significance of border marker 314 and pledged to create favourable conditions for relevant agencies to ensure the project's progress and quality.
The border marker is scheduled to be inaugurated on June 24 to celebrate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Cambodia.

of course, every country on earth probably have their own word for everything; however, to over use or politicized too much the khmer word "youn" this or that is just plain, lame excuse. i, too, have problem with politicians who over use this racist term, especially if they start labeling other khmer people who happened to think differently or have different opinions from them as youn, that is like insulting them or worst endangering their lives in the case of the stupid KR regime. so, i can relate when anyone complain that most khmer politicians simply over used the term "youn" too much with everything and anything. i think that's why people like me is sick and tired of hearing it to no available. of course, khmer people had good reasons to hate or not fond of youn people, however, when we start labeling everyone in cambodia as youn just because they chose to think or behave differently from you, then it is problematic, especially the wrong labeling as in accustion to the point of hate crime, etc, you understand? there is time and place for everything appropriately, that is, you can't just go around calling khmer people as youn or whatever, ok. some khmer people preferred be different and agree to disagree, that doesn't meant they are wrong or youn, it just mean they see things from a different angle or different perspective. isn't that part of real democracy that opposition politicians are preaching to people? so, stop being a hypocrite for a change, really.
as for the border issue with youn country, for khmer people, i can agree this is a complex and hurtful issue that needs time and law to govern it, especially if khmer villages like some are claiming were divided to be in youn country due to this improper border demarcating, etc... so, i think the people or authorities who are in charging of the border committee, etc must be sensitive and voice khmer people's concern regards to loss of khmer territories, lands, seas, rivers, waters, mountains, etc, etc, you know. at least khmer people have legitimate concern when it comes to border issue with neighboring countries. after all, if anyone loses territories, it is cambodia when it comes to neighboring countries and not the other way around, you know. cambodia territories was much larger than what it is today, you know. khmers have to be concerned about this issue, ok!
