Patna, Mar 5: Replicating the world's largest Hindu temple in Cambodia's Angkor Wat, the Bihar Mahavir Mandir Trust ( BMMT) on Sunday said they will build a bigger temple in Bihar's Vaishali district.

To be built at a cost of Rs 100 crore, the five-storied and 222-feet tall temple will come up at a sprawling campus spread over 15 acres at a place near Ismailpur village on Hajipur-Bidupur road, which will be christened as Angkor Nagar, BMMT's secretary and ex-IPS officer Acharya Kishore Kunal said.

Land worth around Rs 30 crore has already been acquired for the purpose from locals, he said.

The proposed temple will be named 'Virat Angkor Wat Ram Mandir' and it will house the statues of Radha-Krishna, Shiva-Parvati, Ganesh, Surya, Vishnu and ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu.

It will take upto five years to construct the temple and another five years to give the final finishing touches to it, Kunal said.

On selection of the specific site for construction of the world's largest Hindu temple, he said the place has mythological significance as it was said that the deities Ram, Lakshman and Vishvamitra had set their foot on the village and were welcomed by the King Sumati of the Vaishali kingdom.

The 'bhumi pujan' for the proposed temple will be held tomorrow, Kunal said adding the temple was being constructed to mark the centenary celebrations of the BMMTs.

The Angkor Wat temple was built in Cambodia in the 12th century during the rule of then Cambodian king Suryavarman (1141-1152 AD).

Angkor Wat is mysterious to Indian because Indian never build huge temple of her own, to say or think that Indian influenced Khmer civilization for many centuries including building, arts, dances, and royal courts is in doubt and also in question, if we compare the arts, dances, architectures and royal court are completely difference. Some foreigners think that Khmer architecture faithfully copy from India but Hindu temple in India no way near to Khmer temple in similarity. For hundred of years until 1960s India did not know Angkor Wat the biggest Hindu temple in the world exist, now they start to realise that may be Indian who copy Khmer arts and brought Hindu from Khmer to India, who know?.

For Khmer who builded Angkor Wat and also builded similar temple across South East Asia included Thailand, Laos, Viet, Malaysia possibly Indonesia as well so we’re Khmer has our own architectures, arts, dances long before Brahman & Naga story. May be Brahman brought Hindu from Naga queen to India.

THIS IS NOT A GOD DAMN INDIAN TEMPLE, GET IT STRAIGHT! IF IT WERE THE INDIAN TEMPLE, IT WOULDN'T BE NAMED 'ANGKOR WAT'. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN '7-ELEVEN, MAY I HELP YOU' INSTEAD, IDIOT!

WTF?

People flock to see Angkor Wat because it ancient and original.
Who want to pay and see a duplicated of Angkor Wat built in 21st century?
Don’t these Indians know how to invest their money better.

angkor wat of cambodia unique in the world. if india to copy from angkor wat, they have to think about the copy right law, etc. i'm sure cambodia has this law in place. angkor wat is famous because it was build in ancient time without the use of machinery, etc like we have today. angkor wat is comparable to the pyramid in grandeur, etc... the monuments of ancient cambodia are unique, i don't think anyone can copy it exactly, unless they are khmer people from cambodia.

BE CAREFUL!
IF THE STORY IS TRUE, WATCH FOR MONEY FLOW FROM CAMBODIA TO INDIA. THE POOR KHMER PEOPLE HAVE ETERNAL REPUTATION TO BE NOT VERY SMART.

Read and pay attention what the Copyright of Angkor Wat. Don't think the CPP ministry understand the copyright and trademark when doing the business. Really hate the CPP administrators or official like Sok Kong, Men Som An, Sok An, etc., are doing doing. We are concerned that they just destroyed out Khmer nation.

Something needs to be done and get rid of CPP regime as soon as possible. No more wasting and destruction of CPP under the secret provision of Vietnamese leaders in Hanoi who illegally installed Hun Sen as a Yuon puppet or dog.

Angkor Wat Temple is unique in the world and people are willing to travel far distance to it! Now for the Indian to copy it, it is a waste of resource unless the Indian want to duplicate Angkor Wat and turn it into Walt Disneyland! It won't be long and someone will try to copy Taj Mahal! And what would the Indian say?

Cambodian used to build big monuments dedicate to God and now Cambodian can't even build a simple road due to many years of war and disruption in Cambodian society and corruption!

Now the Indian are trying to outdo the Cambodian! When you are weak and dirt poor and any fool will try to outdo you!

if hindu worshipers wants to worship, please come to cambodia, only as we have the world's largest khmer hindu build temple. plus, it will be good tourist business in cambodia when they all come to cambodia to worship at khmer temples in cambodia, you know!

India is a Hindu state and to had not had the largest Hindu temple in the world is rather a shame. So this move pretty much is to bring attention(confused somehow) back to India that it owns the biggest Hindu temple, yet it still a replica of the Khmer original; which means they still cannot build the temple with their own design.
