April 10, 2012 (LBO) - Sri Lankan plantation company Kotagala Plantations plans to plant 20,000 hectares of rubber in Cambodia, it said in a stock exchange filing.
The total value of the project is 70 million US dollars, it said.
The move comes at a time Sri Lankan rubber manufacturers have had to import rubber because of inadequate local production and rising costs.
Kotagala Plantations is managed by Lankem Tea & Rubber Plantations, which is part of the Lankem group.
Kotagala Plantations has 12 tea and 11 rubber plantations in Sri Lanka. It has eight rubber manufacturing units, producing pale crepe and sole crepe.

It is incredible that at this modern age Cambodia with its narcissistic and always-bragging leader and government cannot even plant the rubber trees and develop this industry on her own!
What else can I say about the leadership in Phnom Penh?
Let others develop Cambodian lands and they get $70.00 or so out of the sale of $100.00 product, the individual government officials as a group gets $20.00 and $10.00 or even less goes into the state coffers.
Cambodia will be begging for another 100 years or so under the CPP!
