Appeal: The 63rd Annual Kampuchea Krom Commemoration

An appeal for the Kampuchea Krom Commemoration by Khmer Krom leader Sen. Thach Setha, Executive Director of the Khmer Kampuchea Krom Community, KKC, Saret Kim, president of the Khmer Kampuchea Krom Community of Massachusetts, Sophea Thach, member of the Khmer Kampuchea Krom Community.

In B.E.2493, A.D.1949 France ceded Khmer land, Kampuchea Krom, to Vietnam to continue colonizing her until today. Almost all of fundamental rights of human rights lost.

Imagine if your right to practice religion could be removed from you at any time. Imagine if you could not organize a Kathin ceremony in accordance to the Buddhist Tipitika. Imagine if you have no right to learn your history, your Buddhist heroes, heroes, language and culture. Imagine if you have not right to form an association, you have no right to publish and receive news through various media, radio, TV, internet and print books. Imagine if you have no civil rights at all in government jobs, provincial jobs, armed forces, police force, national educational institution.

In Kampuchea Krom, these are not imaginations. They are real. It is the Vietnam's Apathied, daily discrimination is in the face of the Khmers living on their own ancestral land wherever they go.

Please do not stop fighting to get our homeland back and reunited Khmer into one. If we stop, Vietnam just defeated us. The more we voice our opinions and let the world hear, the more chance of us getting back our land.

It is certainly very sad after hearing the speech by senator Thach Setha talking about the suffering of the Khmer Kampuchea Krom people and the loss of Cambodian land handed over on a silver plate to the Vietnamese by the French.

The idea of giving Khmer land to Emperor Bao Dai as a sweet cucumber or bribe in hope that the emperor, in return, would rally the non-communist Vietnamese to help them resist Uncle Ho’s forces shows clearly the naivety on the part of the French with respect to the Vietnamese, stupidity and totally blind and colonialist ambition of the French over Indochina.

Though Cambodia survives being eliminated from the world map and being devoured alive by the Vietnamese and the Thai tigers and crocodiles respectively through France’s military intervention in the 19th century, let us not forget the very fact that the French were not in Cambodia to save her, but rather to fulfill their colonial desire of establishing power base, influence and presence in Indochina.

It is also sad to realize that Khmer Kampuchea Krom people have no place to run to when they encounter persecutions right in their own land from the Vietnamese authority; after all, Vietnamese hands can reach all the way to the Thai border.

History is being repeated. The same strategy with modifications to suit our modern-time politics is being used to swallow completely the independence of Cambodia. In our modern day of politics we do not necessarily have to physically take your land totally, for that would arouses world-wide condemnation, but we will take control of your country through political influences and dictates how you should behave.

I wonder what goes through the mind of Hun Sen and the CPP cronies when they hear Mr. Thach's speech, especially when he said that KKK associations were not allowed to be formed in Vietnam by the Vietnamese government and yet the Vietnamese association can be formed in Cambodia with full support and blessing from Hun Sen's government. Well, probably nothing much since all their brain cells have been filled up with money, power and greed and there is no space left for conscience, patriotism and common sense.

It is very unfortunate that Cambodia keeps producing such traitorous children from one time to the other!

Pissed off

Those names and the past names of Khmer monarchy, Thai monarchy, etc.. were all Indian names (Hindu).
