Venerable Loun Sovath, the infatigable Human Rights monitor, present on all the major land evictions the past years, was invited by fellow monks to accompany them while he was monitoring a demonstration by Boeung Kak Lake residents at the Phnom Penh Municipal Court, supporting 13 fellows arrested on May 22nd. The CPP is so scare of him because of his charisma, popularity and his courage to defend the cause of the most vulnerable population. He could have remained abroad during his frequent visits and stay comfortably in some pagodas oversea but he choose to fight for the right of his fellow Khmer people. I also heard that the CPP offered him money and to run one of the best known pagoda in PP but he refused. Cambodia would have been a much better place in we had more people at this caliber!

This situation is very dangerous for Venrable Luon Sovath. I would like to suggest to our democrats in Cambodia that:
1. We must ask for ID cards of those so-called plain cloth police officers each time they want to arrest our leaders or members
2. If she/he has been arrested, our members should go along with them to make sure that she/he would not be harm.
The reason is that the so-called plain cloth police might be just a Yuon group that would kill our leaders or our members when they drive away.
We need to have a certain level of protection for our high spirited leaders such as Ven. Luon Sovath and others that I wish not to be named here. Otherwise, Hun Sen and Yuon would kill our leader one by one with their 101 tricks very easily.
We must be alert and ready to protect our leaders all day and night.

A coward in plain-cloth and with helmet has no right to arrest anybody. He might be merely a CPP fanatic, a killer, a Yuon or a mercenary hired by the rich. Follow the example of this brave venerable Loun Sovath. He demonstrated a dignified attitude by putting physical resistance without fighting back (not forgeting he is a religious man), smilling (although I am sure he must be worried about his safety, who won't)and alway talking politely pointing at real issues he came to defend and not insulting other. So let us all be constructive in our comments, exchange information, views on how to redress this worsening situation in our country, educate the population to have long term views in the election and not been tricked by the rich and powerfuls trying to buy their votes or intimidate by force to vote against their wills. How do we attract attention of international media (the way the late Chut Wutty did with his Avatar campaign). You see how Mua Sohua became more and more popular with a dignified and more open attitude then probably Sam Rainsy who has some extreme views and is more prone to sensitional statements that could be counter-productive (my personal views only - but we are here to exchange view aren't we)....
