LONG BEACH - Sam Keo, a clinical psychologist and Cambodian genocide survivor, has opened a practice in Long Beach geared mostly toward Khmer patients.

Keo is one of few clinical psychologists in the Southland with intimate and first-hand understanding of the Cambodian-American experience and the mental disorders, such as post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and anxiety, suffered by the many refugees and genocide survivors and their families in Long Beach.

Keo's practice, which opened its doors Friday at 338 E. Anaheim St., is available by appointment only, although he hopes to add hours and staff as the practice expands. Keo can be reached by phone at 562-661-3656 or e-mail at samkeopsyd@yahoo.com.

The author of a memoir of the Khmer-Rouge genocide, which left upwards of 2 million Cambodians dead from mass executions, starvation and deprivation between April 1975 and January 1976, Keo has more than 20 years experience working with a wide range of mental disorders in public mental health.

Keo suffered from severe PTSD and depression after escaping from Cambodia and brings first-hand understanding of language, culture and the struggles of Khmer sufferers.

Keo calls his practice KEOMHAT, which is an acronym for Khmer Expert On Mental Health Assessment and Treatment.

His practice is for those who either don't qualify for county assistance, or fear the stigma of seeking public mental health services.

He suggests those who qualify for public assistance to seek it.

Keo doesn't prescribe medications but will refer those who need them. He accepts most health insurance plans and direct payment.

Well,
Dr. Keo can help Hun Sen to understand why did Hun Sen allow Viet Congs to control Cambodia?

And help the NEC, to stop taking bribes from Viet Congs. NEC closing eyes during this fake election starts as wel as the fake Khmer Rouge trial that stole million of non-Khmers' tax payers.

What an election result. A BIG defeat for the strongest, largest, the most patriotic, the most loved opposition party in Cambodia SRP.

The trend will be similar in the National Election 2013. SRP MPs will be reduced to about 15, HRP will gain 17 MPs, Funcipec and NRP will gain 5, the remainder will be CPP. The share formula is to "legitimize" Cambodian democracy. CPP can have all MPs but they dont want to.

Like it or not, this is the reality of Cambodian democracy. Cambodia will not welcome a democracy dictator instigated by the SRP. Imagine SRP won. He will be a big head. He owns the party. His wife and he thinks the people vote for him solely, so he can do whatever he wants.

They are too proud, other Khmer patriots are beneath them. Likewise his top 20 per cent of his supporters think like them. They are the best party. Eat shit SRP!.

After a thorough psychological evaluation, Sam Rainsy and his followers are suffering from OCD, grief and loss, anxiety, and cowardice. For their welfare and being, a strong dose of medication is recommended in addition to a proper life management.

The so-called KI promoted Psychologist Dr. Samuel Keo can help you coping with this election defeat.

hahhahahah

The article did not convey to its readers of his credentials of study but only experience of 20 years in mental ward. In most states having MS or PHD in Psychology do not eligible a person to treat patients with mental disorder syndrome but only in an instructional aspect on metal issues.

As to cure mental illness the qualify candidates must possess MD degree that requires seven years of general study in medical school and additional four years extensive research specialize in Psychiatric researches-and additional 1,600+ hours of residency before qualify as a Psychiatric Doctor (Psy. MD). A Psy.MD can cure and issue prescribe for the patients where the PHD in Psychology can't.

Congrats to Dr. Keo for his merits and passive ambition for the benefit of Khmer people.

2:44PM,
Thanks for the info. SRP is a predicable laughing stoke...nothing news for Sam Ransy's weaknesses and demise for sometimes now. For your GOOKS the big hammer slings hard from the North.........Khmer will revive, survive, and still remain, amidst the WWIII storms, as a nation where you, Viet, will serve as an inbreed and inward people as a second rate citizen Chinese.

Dear All,
First, I would like to extend my gratitute to KI who is consistently posted important news to share with Khmer abroad so that a discussion can be generated. I think we should all come out to congratulate people who are trying to contribute to the Khmer welfare and well beings. Constructive criticism will encourage more Khmer to come out to do good things. We also should separate the politics from the health care providers. Do not assume that if a person "belong to the other group" when he does not express his support for you. He probably is neutral and only wants to serve Khmer, like Dr. Keo.
I am just saying.
