Cambodia's Foreign Minister, Hor Namhong is believed to have extended an invitation to the North Korean Foreign Minister Pak Ui Chun to attend the ASEAN Regional Forum in Phnom Penh next month.

The two have met in Pyongyang.

Hor Namhong, whose country currently chairs the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is also thought to have offered to facilitate talks between North and South Korea on the sidelines of the regional security meeting.

It is believed this will involve examining ways to resume six party talks on ending Pyongyang's nuclear ambitions.

The six party talks involve North Korea, South Korea, China, the United States, Russia and Japan and have been stalled since December 2008.

The two Foreign Ministers are also believed to have discussed ways of improving relations between North Korea and ASEAN.

North Korea has been increasing exchanges with ASEAN member states recently.

A delegation led by Kim Yong Il, a secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea has left for a trip to Laos, Vietnam and Burma.

Last month, No. 2 leader, Kim Yong Nam, President of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly, North Korea's parliament, visited Singapore and Indonesia.
