Re: Cambodia has put Asean future in jeopardy, Editorial, July 15.
After half a century of hard work in an attempt to build regional unity, Asean has made a mistake by allowing Cambodia to use its self-interest to destabilise the unity of the grouping.
As the current holder of Asean's revolving chair, Cambodia has failed to bring the participating foreign ministers to issue a joint communique after a recent summit in Phnom Penh. Such an incident has never happened in Asean's 45-year history.
Thus, Cambodia is being seen as trying to use its position as Asean's chair to best suit its own interest - not that of the grouping. If this is true, it is unbecoming and unworthy of the grouping's chair.
The incident in Phnom Penh has also dealt a big blow to Asean secretary-general Surin Pitsuwan, who has been working hard to make the grouping stronger and more united.
It's a pity that Dr Surin's tenure, which ends late this year, should have been marred by this incident.

Bravo cambodia, you did the right thing. This ambitious asean are useless... when cambodia faced the border problem with thailand no one seems to cares about cambodia. So please keep in touch with china. The white world don't care about you...like frence, usa or euro if we don't benefit them they ignore you. Look at the the countries used cambodian people as the slavery....malay, thailand, indonesia, these are democratic countries back up by the rich super power USA. Does this father of democracy cares about cambodia from eversince? NOPE!

China is not member of ASEAN, Cambodia is Chairman of Asian Therefore ; Cambodia must know what she supposed to do . If ASEAN
is useless , why Cambodia applied for membership ?

Cambodia to solve the problem bilaterally . China and Vietnam could not take Cambodia side because they are friends of Thailand too . Hope that China , someday ,
come to Cambodia Rescue if she has war with Vietnam due to conflict of interest .

Thailand is more interested in pouring gasoline on fire... than working toward a solution. I am not shocked by their move. I have seen their finger prints all over the place.
Asean is a joke, its' members consist of corrupted democracy countries. There is never a strong unity and never will be strong. The asean are all for their own individual country not for the whole region.

=So Cambodia has obligations to incorporate all ASEAN member states views if it meant going against the ASEAN fundamental principles which is Non-interference in internal affairs?
Why is it that the ASEAN as a group is so quick to accommodate the view of Vietnam and the Philippines in dealing with violation of their Sovereignty! But for Cambodia the ASEAN choose to ignore the Cambodia view when Thailand violated Cambodian sovereignty?
If the ASEAN as a group want to play double standard and put all the blames on Cambodia for all the fucken shits happen to other ASEAN members and maybe it is about time that the ASEAN as a group vote Cambodia out from being an ASEAN member! Cambodia certainly did not gain any privilege being an ASEAN member!

=This is very odd when the siem thugs such as AH Vint Chavala chose to see only the mistakes in other but not in oneself which Thailand is part of the fucken problem! Now I do agree that it is a mistake that the ASEAN allowed Cambodia to become an ASEAN member! But it is the biggest mistake in the ASEAN's 45-years history to allow Thailand to invade Cambodia which is also an ASEAN member! So here the ASEAN members are killing each other and what does the ASEAN as groups do? The ASEAN chose to sit on their hand and kept their mouth shut because of ASEAN fundamental principle the Non-interference in internal affairs of each ASEAN member!
After Cambodia became an ASEAN member and Cambodia got invaded by Thailand? Is this the reward and the privilege Cambodia get for being an ASEAN member? If I am the leader of Cambodia and I will cancel Cambodia ASEAN membership in a heartbeat! I tell the ASEAN they can go to hell!
